Hi Everybody

I am looking for any advice or tips on buying a guitar as a Christmas present. The person I would be buying the guitar for would mainly be using it as a pastime or in trad sessions with friends. They are not a professional musician, but they have wanted their own guitar for a long time now, and they have played guitar for a few years.

When I say I know absolutely nothing about where to start with this task I am being 100% honest, so please don't think any advice is too small or too obvious, because I don't play any instruments myself so I really don't know anything about guitars or any of this

Where should I shop in the Dublin, Louth or Meath areas? What sort of price would be reasonable? What brand would you recommend? HELP PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

Thanks in advance

organise a successful trad session in a pub? !!

I have a post further down, but as yet, it has had little interest.

Surely, all I require is two/three or more, enthusiastic musicians who are keen to come in and play, for fun.

I'm happy to provide sandwiches and a couple of drinks to welcome them.

Please note, I'm aware that musicians are more often than not looking for a wage, but this isnt what I'm trying to do here. I want them to come in for a couple of hours for the love of music not a paid gig.

I know there's a few who meet in Sallins who do this.

Advice and ideas welcome.
