Hello
I need advice on claiming insurance of a car owner who's parked next to me inside the apartment parking lot.

Basically, I bought a brand new car and drove it to my designated parking lot on 2nd June (friday afternoon). By 4th June Sunday 10am, I noticed there are 3 dent marks on the passenger side of my car. I am confident it was caused by the car owner parked on the left side which is a bright yellow FIAT Punto. (dents also left behind yellow paint).

After 2 hours, I confronted the driver of the yellow FIAT and he admitted that it was caused by his car, plus my car was idle at my parking spot from Saturday 4pm. So it must have happened between Sat 4pm-Sunday 10am.

The problem is, I wasn't sure what to do in terms of getting compensation from the driver until I've gotten my friend's advice on Sunday night (I left on Monday morning 4am for short holiday).

The plan was to leave a note on his windscreen about mutually settling the problem w/o going to insurance company. However, now the yellow car is no longer seen/parked in the apartment's premise since Monday noon (according to neighbout) and seems like he knows I was going to claim against his insurance and he's trying to avoid that.

Can anyone advice if I need his insurance details to claim? What if I have only his car registration number, will that be sufficient? Any other ways how to get about with reg num? Many thanks!

Hi all,

About 2 weeks ago my mother in law was involved in a accident (side impact crash). The driver of the other car admitted full liability and their respective insurance company have also agreed this.

The issue we are having is that we were in the process of trading the car in (next day we were due to pick up the new 151 car), the insurance company asked us to get estimate of damages which we did and are totaling 10K and the book value is in the region of 15k.

As you can understand we don't want the car back as it is zero value from a trade in perspective as the new garage wont touch it, the insurance company wont give any depreciation value as the merc is more than 4 years old.

The insurance company are saying that they will only pay for repairs and not write it off. Alternatively they did say that they would allow us to get it repaired ourselves and send us the cheque for repairs minus VAT which is a joke.

To add to the above after agreeing the estimate with the garage they are now saying their engineer is disputing the estimate..

My next step is to look to engage with a solicitor (recommendations welcomed) as we are left with no alternatively as we will be severely at a financial loss due to what the insurance company are advising.

Is there any hope of ensuring that the we get the outcome we require as we believe we are being treated badly. To add to this the parents in law have now no car and require this in order to get up and down to hospital to see a very sick grand daughter. (replacement car now has to go back due to dispute).

Any advice on the above? Are we wasting our time going to a solicitor?

Any help much appreciated.

my house insurnce is with Zurich via the AA.
I fell at home broke my wrist and front teethand it will cost 5K to fix

The AA say that I am not covered as under Section 2 - contents - Family Personal Accident, only loss of a limb or eye or total disablement is covered.

However, under Section 2 - Contents - Third Party Liability it states:

"Insurance is provided for any amounts which You or ant member of your Household becomes legally liable to pay in respect of Accidental bodily Injury, death, disease or illness of any person".

Is this just cover for a claim against me if someone has an accident in my ouse or can I claim under this section too?
