I've been on the lookout for a second generation Subaru STI for the past while. I've been on done deal, Subaru FB pages, carzone etc. I spotted a 05 JDM blobeye STI on marketplace. Looks in great condition. It's advertised as a JDM but it has a 5 speed box, doesn't have STI bucket seats and doesn't have DCCD. Is there anyway of visually knowing its genuinely an STI and not a WRX?

I presume these are spotlight slots, and not some kind of foglight? Forgive my ignorance.

Where can I buy a set of lights to go in here? (Dublin area, don't mind traveling a bit).
How much work is involved fitting them? (Could I do it myself without specialist tools and equipment? I'm not a mechanic.)
Is there somewhere near Dublin I can buy and get these fitted all at once?
Do the spotlights need to be exactly the right model to fit?
What kind of price range do you think this would be, with and without fitting?

Thanks in advance.

I have a 2ltr subaru legacy, which was a jap import. Its odd that it has a twincam engine, as opposed to single cam, and i cant seem to find any garages around Ireland that can help me with an issue I have with the timing belt, as they all say there is a difference between timing belts on the single and twin cam engine. Any one any ideas of what type of timing belt is needed for the legacy twin cam engine? or where I can get one? As i cant seem to find anything online, and the multiple mechanics i have been to dont seem to have a clue!

Hi all,

I recently became the somewhat proud owner of my first Subaru Impreza ('99). Although it's only a 1.6 (damn insurance gangsters) I love it as much as any WRX. It looks the part, full WRX interior and exterior, except for the badges (thank God - Sorry, I don't like to call it a replica)

I say somewhat proud owner because I picked it up for a VERY VERY low price as it has 170,000 miles on the clock . Although the mileage is high it has been well looked after with a new timing belt, water pump, clutch etc... around 10,000 miles ago. I want to have all ship shape for when it hits the road and I'm trying to decide what direction I should go in with the engine.

I could have the engine rebuilt, where and how much would it cost is the BIG question on this one?

I could buy a new (secondhand) engine, I found one from a '97 with 80,000 on the clock for only 200 euro. Still a bit high in the mileage stakes for me.

I'm open to suggestions on this one if anyone has any better ideas or suggestions as to what they'd do.

I was wondering if there are any opinions out there on the best option to buy where to buy and what to look out for? I have been looking into buying up north but the vrt is massive.
