Hello, hoping some of you can offer me some advice, please! My parents want to put a stove into their open fireplace in their sitting room, just to heat that room. We don't know if they should go for a solid fuel stove or pellet. Any advice or links to similar discussions (I haven't been able to find any). Thanks in advance!

Hi, had stove lit as usual, using wood briquettes. Flue is connected to top of stove.

Was massive bang and realised that the entrance into the back of the stove, where a flue can be placed, the whole circular metal fixture had been blown outwards against the wall ( tight space and just fell down behind stove)

Can see that the lever bar that's on the inside of the metal disc ( to hold it in place into the stove) has broken off on one side, so prob need to replace.

Any ideas what caused the explosion?

Hello, I’m thinking of buying a cruiser for the Shannon, with the idea of staying on it for extended periods, either in a private marina or cruising on the river (a little bolthole so to speak). Ideally I’d like solar power and a solid fuel stove for heat. Some of the boats I’ve seen advertised for sale really could benefit from some interior renovation. Does anyone know of places along the river that provide such a service - reupholstering, new curtains, floors, painting etc. ? Or indeed install solar and stove ? Any idea of renovation costs involved. I’m looking for min 30 ft, 6 berth. Also if there are any Irish boat owner forums Please send me the link. Many thanks.
