Hello,
Just wondering if anyone can help me out. I have just finished college and have decided that while it was good to get my degree, I'd much rather look into hairdressing as a career.
Does anyone know what salons in Carlow take on apprentices? I applied to Peter Marks but their waiting list seems quite long. Would any one also know of other ways train in carlow? I'm in a tricky situation in that I really can't afford to do unpaid training or training that would rule out energy for a job also.
A FAS type course would be great or an apprenticeship, I really do want to follow this career path but to be honest I feel I'm starting to get on a bit so don't really want to have to wait too long for something to come up especially as I know how long training can take...
Anyway if any one has any info it'd be great- thanks a million!
XoXo:D

If I could be a model in a salon for trainees I'd gladly do it but finding info on all this is near impossible.
So if anyone knows of a cheap place-even someone who works from home but is low priced I'd be happy-good though too as I love my hair.
And please don't suggest that a cheap salon will be crap because from experience expensive ain't so fantastic either.
Thanks

Hi Guys

I've been going to House of Colour for many years and have tried a lot of different colours and styles...which I've always been happy with.

The problem is, I'm finding it impossible to pay their prices recently...also I've noticed the personal service has gone seriously downhill over the last year or so.

So my question is, can anyone recommend a salon as good as House of Colour for a cheaper price?

I live in Tallaght and all the "local" type salons in my area don't seem to have anywhere near the colour expertise of the more expensive salons. My sisters go to some of these salons and their colours are always uneven and look like box colours! i know obviously they're not ALL bad but the ones i know of are all terrible.

So if if you can recommend somewhere with highly trained staff and reasonable prices I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks a mill

What are my chances and where do I begin?
Do I just call into salons with my CV in the hope that they are hiring?

Anyone from the industry have any tips and advice for me?
I am so eager to get out there and get started so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi everyone

I am wondering has anyone heard of Avenue Boutique on Eyre Street Galway having closed down for good??

I bought a voucher there at Christmas time - went to phone about a few weeks ago to make an appointment - their phone dial tone sounded like I had the wrong number. Double checked the voucher details to make sure I had the correct number and I had. Have tried several times since but same thing happens.

Physically went to call into the place to make an appointment and was met
with a A4 sheet sign on their door saying they were closed but if I wanted to buy vouchers from them I could contact the number at the bottom of the sheet.. guess what - same number - but no luck getting anyone !!
That would lead me to believe they are around somewhere but not contactable.

I managed to find a facebook page via google search looking to see if there were other contact details for them and found an email address for them. Emailed and no reply either. Facebook page also looks like they've stopped using it for updates too.

I had heard rumours that the place had had a leak shortly after christmas time and were in the process of getting it fixed but even that being the case, surely they should let people know what's going on.

I know the voucher I have is worth 150 euros and its of no use to me if I can't get in touch with this crowd.

The recession has put many businesses out of business but there is a right way and a wrong way of letting people know especially when its your own money involved and you have no way of getting it back.

Has anyone heard about them and know who they can put me in touch with please.

Thanks!

Hi everyone, I've come across a lot of posts from people looking for cheap treatments and so on, so I thought maybe it'd be a good idea for us to post places we've come across that do treatments and styles on the cheap.

I'll go first:

Got my hair cut in house of colour on capel street last week, done by the students.
€10 for the cut and the wash and blow dry was free.

Sometimes you've to call ahead and see if their classes are doing what you want that day, but they do a great job, just as good as a fully trained stylist I find.
