Hello,
Firstly I live in Dublin City.
I am a singer/songwriter who sings and writes original Irish songs and also sings traditional ballads. I have sung all my life and play the guitar well enough to accompany myself although I am not a person who can play complicated jigs etc.
I am looking for people who play traditional Irish instruments like the Bodhran, fiddle, whistle, mandolin uileann pipes etc.
I know allot of traditional ballads and want to continue to learn many more- my style would be similar to Pecker Dunne and influence from the Dubliners, Fureys Margaret Barry and so on.
I also write songs that would be in the style of traditional ballads and would like to record them some day but for now I am just looking to get some gigs and perhaps a little busking to get used to playing together.
I am looking for players that are interested in playing mostly ballads and some songs as Gaeilge also- I have some Irish and am learning at the moment but Irish is not in any ways a requirement- just decent players who love Irish songs and have an interest in some of the less heard Irish ballads.

Hope to hear from you soon

Went to this gig with my Dad last night, was brilliant fun and really enjoyed how they got the crowd involved.

Haven't been in Vicar Street in years but it really is a good venue, great atmosphere in the place and it looked like everyone was having a blast

Sean Cannon sounded a little off but they said at the start of the show that he had a cold so fair enough, also John Sheehan announced that it would be his last show with the group.

All in all it was a great night, the pints of Guinness were flowing and a fine pint it was, not sure if anyone else here went but it really was a great night, first time I'd ever seen the band live.

Hi all,

My dad is a massive fan of John Sheahan of Dubliners fame - in particular the Merino Waltz is a very important song to him and his own dad.

We're having a party for the folks' upcoming wedding anniversary, and are hoping (long shot I know!) to get John to come along to play. No idea how to set about doing that, however.

Has anyone got any means to get in contact with him, or an agent? He seems to live out Howth direction, but obviously don't want to hassle the poor man in person, would like to give him a call!

Thanks
