Spent the last few days spreading fertiliser, after work during the week and again today. 4 times I was short about one small bag to finish a field. And half the fields are over a mile away. Murphys law eh!

I got the contractor to do it Friday, big bags and 6 ton out in 2 hours. Never again want to see a small bag, would have a full day spent at it with them and a wagtail.

The big trailed spreaders cost from 10000 to 33000 secondhand. Plus don't last long due to the fert in them

Depends how many big farmers that wouldn't have the time for it or could have their labour used in something more profitable. Also lads that are working wouldn't have the time in the evenings. Tis alright for likes of us who can take a day here or there as we please. All depends on initial outlay I guess.

Couldnt tell you to be honest, I do work with him in the busy season aswell so we have a funny kind of a setup. I had his tractor and bale trailer 3 different days drawing bales from 12 miles away and the manure spread for €250. I wasn't robbed anyway.

Was listening to the radio and Niell Delamere was talking about David Attenborough who turned 90. He played a few of his most memorable wildlife documentary clips and this one just had me in stitches!! Listen from about 1m50sec ..... unreal!! And l thought Michael Winslow from Police Academy was good!! :D

For me, David Attenborough has been the most inspirational (public) person in my lifetime. My sons grew up watching his Natural History documentaries and my youngest (20) is now pursuing a much loved career in Marine Science, studying in NUIG.

Still have 4 problem calves in the shed. One still recovering from meningitis (my pet AAx) another from repeated bloating (doesn't look good in the immediate future) and the other two fingers crossed will be OK.
I'm looking forward to both of us having a bit of a hooley during the Summer in my brother's house in Inishowen Peninsula, Donegal. Date to be decided

    Yeah mangle.
A laborious manual hard bit of graft to turn the handle by hand. I've been there
A walk in the park when the PTO drive arrived.
