I made the monkey bread in the IFJ. It's way too sweet :(

Might be nice with currants in it. Would ya think?

Mmm, I'm more a sultanas person than currants. I'm pretty sure I've seen a recipe somewhere with banana and chocolate too. I also omitted the cinnamon and used vanilla sugar instead, maybe that's why mine was a bit sweet. :pac:

I have been floored by a severe sinus infection and headache for the last couple of days. Only went outside to help OH move calves on Thursday morning to a more sheltered field.
Haven't had such a severe infection in years.

    I'm prone to the same.
The only thing that gets me clear is the steam with olbas oil and lots of carrageen drink with honey and lemon. The headaches are hell..:(

Carrageen moss drink ? Tell me more as I never heard of it used as a drink with honey and lemon.
    Use it to thicken soups/stews.

Not one but two dogs belonging to a Garda down the road was running round our garden earlier  He's been warned that they will be shot yet they continue to roam.
Odd-ear the blonde took one look at them and like a stag she cleared a pair of pallets that was blocking them off a meadow. Didn't touch a hoof to it. I'd have been impressed if I wasn't annoyed :pac:

I wore one this week and last weekend due cause of the harsh wind.
I think it's been coming on me for the last few weeks though.

Dog warden be of any use. It's one way of bypassing the Garda and you don't have to report it in your local Garda station.

Possibly, haven't a clue who the warden is so I'll have to find that out first :)

Was up in some fields a bit away from the farm yesterday and met some guys coming out the gate with around5dogs in tow.i knew dad hadn't given them permission so went over to them and asked what were they up to as they hadn't said anything to us and we could have had cattle there.oh they assured me they they would always check and if an animal was sick or anything sure they would pop down and let us know!!!i pointed out we check our own animals and we want to know who is on our land and when!!ah sure ye are too busy wouldn't want to bother ye every time we are going in!!!!sure you wouldn't know who has it if it's rented etc. And wernt they nice responsible members of a gun club as well"??
I've never met a more condescending asshole. My blood was boiling st this point but I was so taken aback by his cheek I didn't even know what to say. Just said in future call down to the house to ask and walked off. I'm fuming at myself for not gettin the name of their gun club I was just so shocked at his cheek!!he acted like he had a perfect right to be there.
We used to be more relaxed about ppl fishing etc but three wires were cut the last year and a bullet hole in one of the troughs so a lines being drawn.these guys had deff never asked permission!

Maybe stick up a no trespassing sign & the next time you come take a pic.
Like you I'm a great guy for hindsight & disappointment in reaching to this type

Got cow shot today after lifting her for over 2 weeks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,171 ✭✭✭✭Muckit

Well at least that's one less job to be doing. You'd look after 100 healthy cattle in the time it takes to look after one sick one.

Well you did your best. Sometimes it's better to do it straight away if anything happens. But then sometimes you have the odd one that'll come right.

    You can sleep easy tonight.
But still it's a terrible thing to happen.:(

I thought this link might interest a few beef farmers. It's about a rancher starting out with very little and building a business very quickly with land there was little demand for.

Did he run a b&b type job with the 2000 yearlings ? He hardly bought them with the $17000 finance .
