    How did the tailgating go?

Coming in on public transport kind of puts you on the wrong side of the stadium for tailgating. We drank our beers beside the museum without any hassle but I think if you're not in the parking lot you're better off in a bar. Good craic in the stadium of course although the atmosphere didn't kick off till late as you can imagine. Not exactly a classic. Sitting with a niners fan familiar in these parts probably didn't help! But yeah in general it was good fun. I'm 0-2 in soldier field though.

1 win in soldier field this year says it all.

Well... I dunno... I mean, we've been competitive whether the team is good or bad this year, a field goal that you'd bet your house on Gould getting would have won tonight. Would have covered some cracks I admit, the offense was bad all day but that's a better d than they get credit for I think. It's a bad home record but one result doesn't change that we're tending the right way. Shouldn't change the team psychologically and the bonus is a better draft pick. But it's dad that effectively the season is, genuinely this time time, over.

But still, we beat the pack. Bear down.

    (Yeah I'm drunk.)

Bigger picture for the Bears we're going in the right direction and should be very competitive next season, i read on Twitter what da Bears blog posts and it's very sensible.

Love Robbie, but this is the second game in 7 days he has cost us. Time to move on.

Again frustrating but with the personal in defense we're always going to struggle. Cutler again class

That's it for Gould. Again, with a boot as weak as his you gotta be money from 50 in.

Team have been poor two weeks running. Beat up in the trenches today.

    Time to start draft scouting.

I'd still see Gould like mason Crosby, he's been solid, he's having a dip, it's costing us now but once we lost last week I regarded the season as over anyway. How long the trial goes on I don't know but he's been so solid. To be honest, if we're going to lose, losing by field goals is how to do it, get your draft pick, etc. I'd keep the pressure off Gould, let him see if his form comes back by season's end, if not, cut him (dunno the contract situation).

Meanwhile, how bout that cutler? Really hoping we can keep those two coordinators, the losses might help in that regard actually (still believe in the idea that winning creates a mentality).

But the ****ing holding penalties!! God give me strength. And penalties in general. We are woeful for it. Dunno how many yards it cost tonight but it was a LOT.

only half watched second half though so I've little opinion, but the redskins d got serious pressure going, especially potroast. O line remains our Achilles.

Hopefully Gould gone - Top 3 paid kicker and cost us 3 games - vikings, last week and this. Could have cost us San Diego game too. Weak leg and rarely kicks it out of end zone on kick offs.

It's not mason crosby'ish imo - been 2 seasons of this now and he is old so it looks like decline. Not everyone is a vinatieri.

Cut him, get a kicker in the 7th or best UDFA and put the money to use elsewhere.

Grasu getting bullied and his short arms concern me, really not sure if that pick will work out.

The sooner McManis is cut the better.

Overall I just see the lack of talent and depth catching up with this team. They've one receiver (Jeffrey) who catch the ball consistently - nobody else put up 60yards+ on regular basis. Miller has been a huge positive of this season however.

Roll on the draft and next year.

PS Dear Santa - 2 new ILBer's please and thanks

2 ILBs, 1 DB, and one DE all needed to start next year. That's perfectly manageable in fairness. I'm more than happy to stick with the current 3 at OLB provided Houston takes a paycut. Willie Young is ballin.

The offensive line now has to be a concern. I think you go the sure route and push Kyle back inside for one of the strongest tandems in the league. Long was beat like a drum Sunday. Stick with Montgomery as insurance if Grasu doesn't pan out. 2 tackles needed, one to start right and one in case Leno regresses. Forte is good as gone so find a cheap running back and replace Marty if he leaves. That should do it offensively.

Well, arguably we also need another TE given Bennett is almost certainly gone, and we still don't know if we have a decent backup QB (and given Fales couldn't overtake Pickles on the depth chart at the start of the year, that means we probably don't). But you'll never have everything!

We ve 9 picks and loads of cap space.

1/2 oline players (I'd spend on a quality tackle or guard and draft another), 1 decent impact dlineman to add to some solid rotational players we have (Sutton, gaston, Jenkins, Ferguson), 2Ilbers - draft one in first two rounds and sign another and a safety and this team is miles better.

That's 6 players - we ve 9 picks plus free agency were we should be looking to get 2-4 starters so getting 6 immediate starters plus depth looks plausible.

You can't have it all and will always need an udfa to develop or last years players to step up further - thankfully they've shown they can develop players.

It is going to be a huge offseason for this team - for first time in long time we've accumulated picks and have good cap space.

Now comes the hard bit - drafting well and not paying average players as if they are quality players when you ve that cap space.

2 ILBErs of decent quality plus a stronger oline makes this team so much better even forgetting anything else. That would be my focus - strong oline a must given what we have in Langford and takes the pressure off Jay (something you always want to do).

At least we don't need an immediate replacement at QB, that could have killed things before the off-season started. Jay's contract is back in the team's favour now... They'll obviously want him next year and if he falls off a cliff without Gase the guarantees are gone then.

After gases play calling yesterday, and with our record, I think we'll be able to hold onto him. Hopefully anyway.

Btw. A peculiar footnote but given our sos and atrocious conference record we could actually end with a better pick than last year.

Last game against Detroit could be key.

Dolphins interviewing Adam Gase for their hc job. Probably won't be the only ones to do so. Will be a huge loss to the bears if, as seems likely, he moves on, and will be a great hire I think. Got Cutler motoring at an unbelievable level as the year went on, can see us regressing next year on O again unless we really knock it out of the park with a replacement, and the lack of stability continues, unless they promote someone from within (the QB coach, Loggains, sends a front runner)

Hoping for a vintage Forte performance tomorrow in what might be his last game as a Bear. Going to miss him.

Remember that game away to the Colts his first year? Opening night against Manning on SNF. Orton at QB and Forte had a huge game to give us an upset win. Good times.

Something about that 2008 team I love. We weren't very good but they were plucky as hell.

1 win all year in soldier field, bigger picture is good tho. Adam Gase is gone. We'll be a 9/7 or 10/6 team next year.

I wanted vintage Forte, not vintage Cutler! :pac:

Those INTs were unfortunate. We moved the ball well at times given the the personnel we had out there. Mariani was pretty good as a receiver.

I really wouldn't be so sure. Granted our schedule is (initially) looking much better but there is still a massive talent deficiency.

Yes we've FA & the draft but neither guarantee anything. We're also looking at finding a new OC and possibly a new DC. If they need both plus a whole new core of players it's likely going to be a slow start to the season.

There are some nice positives from players who showed up but we lack building blocks and there's no way of knowing if potential will turn into talent/solid players.

It was a way better season in lots of respects but tough enough to endure to finish picking only 11th.

11 will do. There were 7 atrocious teams so it was ambitious to expect much higher.

Looking forward to draft season now, always fun. Prepared for the inevitable heartbreak of the team immediately preceding us snatching our franchise stud from under our nose.

The positive of being at 11 is that it brought ILBer into the region. However if Jaylon Smith's knee is okay (not sounding like it is) he will be gone and we can't afford the Myles Jack risk given Kevin White last year (I'm way higher on Smith anyway especially in a 3-4). If Smith's knee injury is significant it rules him out given how late it is.

I was hoping for a Buckner or Bosa type player but they'll be long gone.

A'shawn Robinson at 5 tech or Stanley at Tackle look likely picks at that range.

No one else really appeals to me. I'd be wary of Robinson too given Reed takes so much pressure off him (often demaning the double team).

49ers are bound to pick him, they specialize in selecting players with serious injuries, especially ACL injuries.

In the last few years alone:

Brandon Thomas, Keith Reaser,Trey Millard, Kaleb Ramsey, Tank Carradine, Marcus Lattimore, Joe Looney, DeAndre Smelter

That covers 3 drafts. None have really worked out so far.

Blast from the past - loved him coming out. Thought he'd be a real star. You never can tell exactly how players will transition and then throw in a serious injury.

Anyone happy with rolling with what’s there at OLB next year? I mean a depth signing alongside Acho would be fine but with McPhee and Young playing lights out and Houston finally stepping up (8 sacks playing 40% snaps is an exceptional return) I’m far happier spending premium picks and big cash down the middle.

As long as we're not still going with the Shea McClellin/Christian Jones comedy roadshow next year, grand. Certainly we have bigger needs than OLB, but I would expect them to draft going on who is best that falls to them. If that happened to be a guard or a tackle, I wouldn't be disappointed either.

Yep absolutely - ILB'er, DE, corner and saftey all more pressing needs defensively and we need a tackle and guard too.

Still if an OLBer falls in the draft and is value you have to take them - we'll see if Pace really is going to draft BPA - was hard to tell last year but we should find out this year.
