Speaking of actions not mattering, landed on the Prydwyn for the first time last night:
When Danse got off, stayed on board and turned the vertibird cannon on him. He turned and tried to fight back briefly. Then after he 'died', he just got back up and carried on to the debriefing.

Reloaded just in case, and carried on. Discovered you can complete the 'Attend Elder Maxsons address' part of the quest by lobbing a pulse grenade into the room and killing everyone. You won't live long though since the whole ship turns against you. Which is a pity, cos I wanted to see if I could carry on and talk to him as required.

Oddly, if you listen to his address and talk to him after, you can then go downstairs in the same section (looks like a comms room) and grenade eveyone there to death with no repercussions. But if you try it anywhere else on the ship you'll get slaughtered.

Should give it a try if 'lack of colour' was never one of your issues with the game (personally I didn't have any problem with it -- it's a wasteland, not a theme park).

Would be the case for me if this game wasn't so 'random item' and crafting dependent compared to the other Fallout games.
Never in any other Fallout of Oblivion game did I find myself scanning the shelves and desks for items like ashtrays or aluminium cans etc.

It used to be open chests/safes/lockers and that was it. So I need all the light I can get to see the items I need :P I need 4 more ceramics !!....ashtrays and coffee cups please.

Theres a perk that will highlight stuff you want in a green outline.

I checked Nick last night because I wanted him to carry a flamer Id found, never bother talking to companions otherwise, fcuker had about 400 fusion cells on him! Thats why all the synths I was killing only had an Institute weapon and nothing else on them, he must have been stripping the dead.

Ha! I'd been wondering about that, thought I was losing my mind a couple of times when I went to hand companions stuff and they were carrying 3 or 4 mediocre weapons I didn't remember giving them.

i think it's rank 2 'scrapper' in the intelligence tree

I gave Nick the powerful melee weapon you get from a certain Supermutant, he does well with it, I was getting sick of him plinking away with that pistol and not helping me at all.

He's only with me until I get the hacking perk then he's done, apparently he has a good personal quest too though.

A lot of effort though. It is a good quest mind you, and he's probably my favourite companion. Just don't expect it to be quick.

Been staying away from the forums until I got bored in work today.

I was level 33 before I hit Diamond City. I'm level 44 now, and haven't done
the story quest where you hand dogmeat something to sniff out
    .

Having a barrel of laughs wandering around and shooting most things I see. However I got
Overseer's Guardian from the fault, made it non automatic, slapped a .308 barrel and some other good stuff on it, and it is absolutely brutal with 4/5 in rifleman. Stuff just falls down in front of me. Have a rapid firing 10mm that does plasma damage as a VATs backup.
, and nothing seems to stand up to me atm. However I havenbt really went near any of the "red" areas on the heatmap....

It's pretty good with the top auto receiver as well with max Commando, you're somewhere around 110-120 per shot. It's great for bursting in close range like an AK47 :D

Set the game to Very Hard. I was still walking through it by the end.

Yeah, I think I have 170 damage on it per shot, which it fires two [i assume]

Ropedrink: If you give Piper a 10mm, does she still need ammo?

After 35 hours on my first character, I think I'm going to have to throw in the towel, and start again.

I'm level 18, but I'm getting my ass handed to me all the damn time. I think I've spread my build too thinly. Always happens to me, never have a proper build in mind.

Spend the weekend doing some back and forth crap for the minutemen, have a sleep in your bed to get the XP bonus before handing in some quests and you'll be able to pile some points into what you want.

I wouldn't use or suggest this usually but beats starting over

I assume you're playing on PC if so you could respec your character with console commands. Lowering the difficulty for a while is also an option. With Fallout games you become pretty overpowered at higher levels so going on an easier difficulty level for a while and then ramping it up as you hit higher levels so do you fine.

Whats the console command to respec the character?

3 hangs on loading, and 1 CTD today.

Mouse nearly got launched out the window there, was in the middle of a running gun battle with a bunch of gunners, including a legendary, and pop, desktop.

There's no console command specifically for it but you can use commands to remove and add perks, change special stats etc.

No need to spoiler that, chaps -- and using that with rifleman is something I brought up a few pages back - it's stupid good, had no need to use anything else and basically got me through the game (survival).

Just put on Bloody Mess, and it is now up to 220ish damage. Ridiculous. Changed back to Righteous Authority for a bit, but thats at 125ish without being really pimped out... lol.

So, by accident, I've ended up with 2 more settlements - Jamaica Plain and the one associated with it ("Oberlands Farm"?).

I've cleared all the settlements I've discovered of debris and carted everything back to Sanctuary.

    I don't have any charisma.

What's the easiest way to set the other two settlements up with what they need?
I've food stashed in a separate box so that's not an issue, but how do I sift through the reams of scrap?
Is there any way to craft items and cart them off to other settlements?

aside from bringing the raw materials there yourself or setting upa bunker hill trade post and hoping carla shows up with cheap junk i dont think there is - not without local leader in charisma

Would be nice being able to prefabricate the stuff ye need for the settlements alright

you have failed to protect temples bluff
    wrt is going on there?

just one of those anoying repeatable quests that pop up you can ignore them.

i dont like when that happens - especially since you need to be eagle-eyed to spot that you've picked up the quest randomly at some point - it literally just shows on the screen for a few seconds then goes into your questlog under Misc until you complete it or it fails.

Has anyone got a bug where the sides of buildings go all multi-coloured 8-bit depending on the angle of lighting?

Up close nothing seems to happen, so it's not the colour of the building itself. It seems to be related to the reflected light bugging out. Instead of being "light-coloured" it is instead a blanket of 8-bit-looking blueish blocks.

I got a permanent bug for that very settlement. It's one of the repeating quests that you can get. I got a pop up telling me that Tenpines was in danger and to talk to Preston, who was right beside me. So I clicked on Preston and my character told him that we failed to protect Tenpines, and he said something about that being bad, and then the quest to defend Tenpines was permanently active in the Pipboy, it couldn't be disabled and it couldn't be completed. I went to Tenpines twenty times during the course of the rest of the game and nothing ever happened there, and I got plenty more Minutement quests from Preston, too.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the supply connection people getting into trouble.
