    WHAT

Another black mark on their absurd UI.

Annoyed me too, I seen CHR2 and assumed it was level 2 ie the next onedown . Its not its 2 points in CHR at the top.

So you could be local leader at level 2 I believe.

some of those perks have level restrictions on them, afaik the first one in any tier you can pick at level 1, then they get level restrictions for the second, third rank etc

Some of them only have two ranks, others have loads - it's a good system, but it's fu*kin woefully explained, in fact, it's not at all explained, you have to figure it out by yourself or ye know, have a manual to read :D

They could have spent the last month that it's been at gold and ready to launch making a feckin tutorial patch for the silly little things like that.

jaysis, that and trying to get electricity working was poxy, and it turned out to be something simple, i overlooked it (stupid spacebar):/

Right, so after 20 or so hours, I'm really enjoying it bar some issues that I've been noticing a lot.

Again, I have to say that the UI is absolutely atrocious. As bad as I've experienced in a long time. The mouse is unresponsive, and often misses that I've already moved the cursor to a different option. They really need to stop designing the UI for a console, and then just patching in the PC version afterwards. Other then that, some issues with weapons not changing properly, Dogmeat being a complete idiot, and some major issues when constructing buildings (i.e. floating buildings when the terrain isn't flat) are the issues that stand out for me so far.

The rest is pretty great though. The weapon customisation is excellent, and allows for a crazy amount of options. Not sure i like that you get so many powerful weapons early on, but bumping up the difficulty still leaves me with a bit of a challenge. There's too many settlements and not enough resources, but i suppose that's how it should be in a post apocalyptic world. I do wish you could merge some of them though. Graphics are grand, and it occasionally looks pretty good. Story seems decent so far. Music is fantastic, as per usual. Voice acting...not so much (at least not on the main character).

Still haven't gotten to Diamond City, and am just doing some side quests. Barely used the Power Armour at all, bar the mission you get it. I've got 6 or 7 fusion cores just sitting in my Workshop, so i should probably start using them at some stage. My Perks are all over the place as well. Heavy into Int and Science based ones, with a few others mixed about.

Overall, it's pretty much exactly what i expected. Which is a (mostly) good thing.

The only major bug I've found so far is the Quarry/Excavation site, with that wierd, blocky and plain texture overlaid over everything....

Does the game automatically recognise a PS4 controller when plugged in?

    If it doesn't try DS4Windows.

How long do you think it will be before we see some type of "Fallout 4 Enhanced" mod that fixes all these issues? Im wondering if I should just leave this alone until Christmas holidays instead of sacrificing sleep squeezing an hour in here and there...

I changed mine to 90 in via the ini files.

Just fast travel away and then run back. The area should reload back in correctly.

Grr.. Working perfectly fine yesterday, today all I get is a black screen and booted back to the desktop.

Anyone else encounter this? Done the usual of checking file integrity and defaulting the configuration files but no joy.

It took me ages to figure out exactly WHY I couldn't improve my lockpicking/hacking etc -- and it was because I didn't even see (or know) there were more than two lines of perks.

Bad design. Totally. IT should be zoomed out, and then you can zoom in as needed. Or just have smaller pictures for each perk.

The UI is a disgrace. The text u/d/l/r is a joke. Bugs are taking the piss [eg the subtitles getting lost or not going on a section, leaving those hard of hearing absolutely screwed in dialog]

But I still love the game.

They do, yes. You can equip them with whatever weapons & armor you want (I'm tempted to have all the core ones wearing Tuxedo's and all the workers in rags). If you equip them with certain weapons, just drop them about 12 bullets.

I have all my traders in suits guards in mixed armor but all with guard helms i found in some secret base, farmers in normal clothes, also i walled of the first settlement for the most part.

Also if anyone is having issues with carry weight i got one word.. strong..
    spoiler
alert to rescue a guy held hostage by super mutants from a radio signal bring your power armor

Not if you're getting notifications for both threads with identical titles.

Had something similar happen to me a few times but only when I saved and quit to the desktop, was doing some work, then tried to open it again, would open the menu to play the game but wouldn't launch, had to do a re-start of the pc and then it worked but never got booted back to the desktop from within the game when it was actually running.

    100. 80 in the first session I played was far too close, felt like I was playing through a magnifying glass.

Took me a while also to find out that you can't open the console in-game unless your keyboard is set to US layout, and also that when you're using the console to change your FOV you have to enter two numbers, one for 3rd person and then one for 1st person (i.e. fov 100 100). And even hacking it via console is a moot point if you don't hack the .ini files, which make it reset every time.

Just a heads up on the Exclusive version I received today from Amazon.co.uk originally titled "Fallout 4 with Artbook and Soundtrack". It's now titled "Fallout 4 with Franchise book and Soundtrack" which is still far from the truth. The book is called The History of Fallout with some info. on all of the previous games and some nice pics. No info. on Fallout 4 just some promotional art. The "Soundtrack" is 5 ambient tracks from the game. I feel a bit mugged to be honest but hey ho time to let the game make up for it I suppose.

So... it seems unlocking the framerate makes load screens go by quicker. That is just.... wow. I've never seen anything like that before outside of emulated games.

    But...

Yes the windowed with no border works for me, the game was unplayable with lagging issues before that.

I took off the frame rate cap, changed to windowless no border and it's been fine ever since. I even upped my graphics from low to high.

So would the consensus be that I'd be well served waiting a while before getting this?

Seems like there's a few bugs to work out.

I know I sidestepped a whole host of issues with bugs, UI inefficiency and that kind of thing by waiting 6 months to get the Witcher 3.

Or do Bethesda actually bother their arse with that kind of thing?

If their previous games are any indication of how they'll handle FO4, they won't bother. But modders might depending if it takes off.
