I see it is now being listed as a "Live Event" screening at Movies at Dundrum, Dublin starting at 8.00 pm on the 29th.

Roger Waters The Wall Live Event
    LIVE EVENT BROADCAST:
    IMPORTANT NOTICE:
For live content all start/intermission and finish times are approximate. Delays can be experienced and some level of audio and visual interference/interruptions can be an unforeseen possibility. Where/If advised by the broadcaster of possible issues we will alert the audience accordingly.

The film, with an exclusive "in conversation" with Roger Waters and Nick Mason, will have an unprecedented event cinema release across the world at 8.00pm local time on Tuesday September 29 this year. ROGER WATERS THE WALL, which had its World Premiere at last year's Toronto Film Festival, is an event film that unfolds on many levels – as an immersive concert experience of the classic Pink Floyd album, a road movie of Waters' reckoning with the past and as a stirring anti-war film, highlighting the human cost of conflict.

Roger could do with releasing some new material, couldn't he?

Great to see Fat Old Sun getting an airing again and of course always a nod to Syd with A.D.

5 am seems like a killer opening track.

If only there was an Irish show :(

I have to say I am disappointed with that set list. I was hoping for a few songs from the first two albums and some Floyd that he hasn't played on his own. Dogs would be my preference, I have heard Wywh so many times that I am starting to dislike it. The highlight on the last tour was Echoes,I honestly don't see a highlight here if he sticks with this set.

He doesn't really like Dogs though, he's said that in interviews.

I thought it was a good set list, I can't comment on the new songs but there seems to be a good few of them, plus Us and Them / Money / Sorrow / Run Like Hell have never been performed by Gilmour solo. Sorrow's good, at least the intro is. :-)

I don't think he likes to do Echoes without Richard Wright, but he did that last tour anyway. I would've like to see some of his first solo album, like There's No Way Out of Here, No Way, or Cry From the Street.

Good interview just there. I saw him in the stadium in 1984 and Run Like Hell was played on that tour and it was brilliant. I just wanted more solo Gilmour than just Floyd but looking forward to the RAH on the 25th. At his age I did not expect Echoes again plus the fact that Rick has passed.

Really enjoying the vibe of the new album, absolutely delighted that he has Rado involved, even if only on one track. Its a bit of a full circle moment.

I see David Gilmours new album is number 1 in the UK. Also he is featured on 'Later with Jools Holland' this coming week.

I haven't been impressed with what I heard... it sounds very 80s MOR. Not like On An Island, which was more Floydian.

I haven't bought it yet, which is a first for me, for Floyd related stuff.

Not surprising, as Jools guests on the album.

Funny enough, I was listening to it the other night on the surround system and my wife came into the room just after arriving home from being out shopping and said "... Pink Floyd?"

I was disappointed when I saw the setlist but after watching the show I thought he got it spot on, it was even better than 2006. The band were fantastic and the guy on sax Joao Mello was absolutely unreal. The RAH is a superb venue and for the first half of the show the ushers were spending their time chasing cameras and phones. Luckily I managed to get a few. This is the third time I have seen David solo since 1984, I just hope it is not the last he just gets better with age.

Anyone else going?, I'm off to the Vue...

  • Registered Users Posts: 663 ✭✭✭Chelon

How was it in the Vue?

I made the (probable) mistake of going to Dundrum. Liked the film and the interview but feel it did lose impact on the relatively small screen there.

Moreover the sound could have done with being cranked up several notches - also the surround speakers appeared to be silent for the whole film. Have attended Dundrum movies many times since the place opened and it's not the first time I've noticed this. I actually wrote to them once (no reply) - I'm either missing something or else they've never been setup correctly since the place opened...

The Vue was pretty damn good.
They are in the middle of upgrading the place and the room where it was shown was one that had been finished.
The screen was a good decent size, so when the cameras had panned back fully you could still appreciate the detail of the enormous staging. The sound was great, surround nice and loud, but not very loud (although I would have enjoyed more had it been a bit louder :) ) and nice new comfy seats to enjoy it all.
