    That's the third day in a row that I've had to walk the field for a baby calf. The mother keeps hiding him, like she should, but thicko head herself keeps forgetting where she left it and saunters off to a couple of fields away.
    Yesterday I found her in a patch of briars all tangled up where she had rolled backwards down the hill. I would normally leave her to her own devices but this is a really overgrown and very steep hill and the calf could get stuck very easily.

    Maybe I should spraypaint her neon pink, that'd be a lot easier found than limo brown :pac:

    worst here was when a calf fell down a fox hole, luckilly it kept bawling so we knew the area where it was, fr heifer calf and all, my dad was just about able to get its tail and we got it out , first thing it did was went for a drink off its mammy, her nose was all scrapes when she came out

    Jesus I hope that doesn't happen to any of ours! Found one patch of the gripe that had those stinky fungi growing in them, smell of decay off them. Stinkhorns, I think they're called. Bleeeugh.

    Didn't someone on here once say that they wouldn't breed jersey cross cows cos he was afraid of losing them down fox/rabbit holes. :)

    They are indeed the Stinkhorn. You'd often smell them before laying eyes on them! A unique smell.
