just bizzare because you never consider the main dealers 99% of the time based on price, but €120 more for a spurious kit is nuts.

looks like a 1.6/ 1.8 vvti avensis kit will do. time to call all the people i've already phoned with a different voice this time :pac:

If micksgarage has one you can collect it off them if that's an option.
    Did that before!

On holidays in Brazil visiting the in-laws, and I'm the one driving. Jaysus... The driving here is ridiculous. Speed cameras are very common, but outside those everyone speeds. Everyone overtakes... I've even had people overtaking while I was overtaking! Police are more common on the roads and have checkpoints. Got stopped once but all was ok, just checking papers.

I will say one thing though, they can park here. Parallel parking is in their test and the standard of parking is very high. We need that in the irish test.

Feckin 800 euro for my insurance renewal. Doesn't look like going any lower either. Madness. Large engine, older car they said... '02, 1.8 :(. I'm 29 FFS. Thought back 10 years ago that at this age I'd be paying 800 for something like an sti or a gt-r.

Could be worse... Try a quote on a 406 td for the laugh. You wont laugh :(

Im starting to believe that insurance companies have one of those number generators like the one on countdown. Just press the red button and see what figure it throws up

:(. Will ring around during the week.

I'd say the 406's are even more than the primera was. 750 for the 2.0td 90hp last year. Thing was slower than a micra. Your one said at the time it's because it's a 2.0 td it goes into a higher bracket... so I get a 1.8 thinking it would be a bit less.

And mine is older at 1999.

think it might relate to the poor design quality of an alfa ? ie poorly built = bigger risk of crashing?

Are they known to fold or something?

I think he's reffering to the wishbones etc. On a 13 year old car it's hardly a factor. The brakes on the alfa are the best of any car I've owned or driven. I know it's on a tipo platform designed in the 80's so crash safety could be it. Then again my friend was paying 600 on an jap asti mivec which is faster than a 325ci and has the crash safety rating of a wheelbarrow. Think I'll just have to forget about it, pay it in installments and add it to an ever growing list of reasons to emigrate.

Nope...in fact as crashes go you'd think the 3series would be a higher risk, due to more on the road been driven by young lads.

Christ I knew alfas had a bad reputation, thankfully neither of mine have yet to spontaneously drive into someone else due to low oil.

I would have expected the bmw to be much higher too. I remember alainstranor saying his insurance is low enough too though. Would have thought RWD and 150+hp would have put them higher than any 156.

The accountants of the insurance world must drive bmw's! Yours must be over 300hp?

And how much bhp is your Alfa pumping out onto the roads of Ireland? :pac:

    Ha! Not a troll :pac:

It's just a rule of thumb I have. I'd now most 90's jap cars hp roughly off the top of my head but wouldn't have a clue about new euro/german cars. 1991 P1 wrx would be roughly equal to a new gti etc. Went off a 300zx tt(300hp stock) for the 335i.

Had my battery changed and thought the radio code was in my manual pack, now I'm waiting in the dealers and have to pay 20 euro as they have to take my fecking stereo out to get the serial number

144hp from the factory! It's quick around corners though which is all I care about :) Really enjoying having a light front end. Will probably have to go back to a diesel in 6 months unfortunately so just wanted to have some fun with a small petrol engine, while I'm not doing much long distance driving for a change.

Ah, the same amount a horse and trap was putting out in 1950's Ireland :D
