Seeing some of the LHD cars on DoneDeal gave me an idea - buy a cheap one, drive it through France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Lithuania into Latvia, sell it there and fly back.

Just gotta figure out all the details like insurance and all that crap. First time I came to Ireland was with a bus on a very similar journey, but that was a bus, sooo....

Are the Mk4 1.4 Golfs really as bad as ye seem to make them out to be? I see loads of them on the roads and haven't heard too many complaints.

Yup as slow as a wet week, known for burning a lot of oil too. The likes of a 1.4 corolla would be superior if you were tied to a 1.4 engine.

I'm planning on going to have a look at a Mk5 1.4 either monday or tuesday and I'm planning on taking it on a loonnggg test drive - I'll report back

The 1.4vvti toyota unit I'd rate as superior. Just find one that doens't burn oil either.

Had a brief look at a car this evening in a dealership. Car currently has 142k miles, but the NCT disc (from Aug 2014) said that it had 134k kilometres.

NCT disc is legit, says on the website that its due in August of this year which is corresponding with the disc - but Im'm presuming that they meant to say miles instead of kilometres on the disc?

Should I be worried about it? Or should I just brush it off and presume it was a mistake made?

Yep, 1.4. Very handy for insurance purposes, I may aswell take it for a test drive and see what it's really like.

Unfortunately it's not the red one, I called that garage today and they said it was sold last Wednesday.

Of course if I were to buy it then I'd make a couple of changes - alloys would make it look a bit more decent. Few other bits that I'd like to change myself but don't really have to be done!

A toyota brochure cane with the paper. How can a double cab 3.0 hilux cost 37k, yet a 3 door, 2 seater land cruiser, same 3.0 engine, cost 40k....

Toyota have gone to the dogs across the board, with regards to styling, maybe with the exception to the corolla. Don't really have that edge anymore.

Obviously I'm not taking anything like that into account. What I'm on about is the stuff in the Irish brochure that paddy and mary will buy. Gt 86's or the likes aren't even mentioned in the brochure.

Their run of the mill cars such as the Yaris, auris, avensis, rav4 etc, their design that I'm picking at.

I never really took to Toyota myself. Too many of them around and their not even that reliable anymore. Their design on their ordinary cars are just too bland

GT86 seems fine but the rest i wouldn't be interested in
