Yeah we haven't great roads around here, really the wicklow mountains are the best near us and that's still an hour away! I was down around Leenaun and Louisburgh, god its bloody amazing for a quick spin!

Ah shtop, I travel them roads so often, savage scenery on a nice day, could do them blindfolded at this stage. So sick of tourists crawling though, thankfully I'm away from it for the peak periods.

That's usually the case, doubtful about the esb though...

How so? I hope they're okay since my dad got one of them.

    Are you near Portlaoise?

Suzuki Jimny 1. My knuckles 0. Brake rotor has seized onto the hub. Going to attack it tomorrow with a few bolts and see if I can wind it off using the caliper mounts

I'm just going by what I see, any of the ones I do see on the road appear hacked, sitting low with stuff inside, bulbs missing. That's not to say they're all battered and mis treated, just going by the ones I've come across. If that's the state that they do be in then I haven't much hope of them being maintained too well.

I'm sure that ye looked over yours, and if it was tidy enough then why not buy it, given the money.

Living in Carlow town now though.

    Why Stheno?

I've seen an ex ESB Landy and it was a good buy. Decent service history and decent condition. Yellow was a bit, well, yellow though.

Tbh they are probably no worse than most vans you buy the vast vast majority of them are dogged to sh!t. Infairness how many spotless 2005 vans do you see going around not too many. 1460 euro is not a bad orive for that van even if it needs 500 quid spent on it to get it through a doe it's still a cheap enough van. And I've seen plenty of esb and eircom vans that look well minded too it depends on the driver too some will have the fcuk it its a company vans I'll treat it like sh!t then there is myself and probably everyone else on here that if you got a company car or van in the morning you would mind it well to an extent as it just wouldn't be in many of us to wreck a car or van regardless of whether we own it or not.

I'd respray it and put it on the ferry over to the uk. It would surely make stronger money over there.

Would the paint job pay off though?

If you are near Ballinrobe I pass through there most weekends now going up to the lady friends house!

In meath for the next few months. May end up back west. Used to pass through balinrobe regularly between sligo and galway. Two nice roads north of there.

Are the braking tests for tyres done in a straight line?

Sure we might run into each other! (Proverbially :pac:)

I would assume so, too many variables the other way with weight shift etc.

There was talk of a meet last weekend on here, anything come of it?

If you got it cheap enough it might. Also straight panels would be easier, hence cheaper to paint.

No I go up to Claregalway and get out onto the N64 around shrule.
Up through Ballinrobe and left in Partry I think its called!

The roads up that way are awesome :)

Normally go to achill down the n4, but had to pick up a friend in Clara. Made Clara to achill in 2 hours and 20 mins on the n60. Such a fun road to drive at night.

The road from Newport to achill is brilliant.

May give it a go Friday when I'm up there!

I did Roscrea to Westport in 2hrs 30min on a Friday evening which I thought was very good.

    400km trip costs €80 or 19.8mpg.

50 odd euro in fuel just to get there, not back

    Totally worth every cent
