I haven't been to that in years, Afaik it is on every Wednesday evening, does your man still shout bullshít into the mic. You don't have a clue what does be going on.

That's what it said, yeah. Every Wednesday at 8PM. Every auctioner sounds like he's talking gibberish very fast if you don't pay attention to it. You can make out what he's saying about the bids and all though so it was okay.

Went to the ESB auction in Claremorris this morning. My dad got a 2005 Renault Trafic 1.9 dci 6-speed. Needs a little tidying but very presentable as is. Got it at a decent price too.

I've never been to an auction before, it was... interesting :P

Myself and brother Goodman are looking to invest in a van again. Is there much of a selection? How decent is a decent price?

Well you see, ESB was auctioning off their old fleet today. There was close to 100 vans/jeeps/pickups, and about half of them were running. I have no idea what's it like on any other days. You can see upcoming auctions here though: http://hanleysales.hibid.com/auctions/current?display=50

He paid €1300 + €160 fee for that Trafic.

Some guy came into work today saying he was stranded out of the motorway with a flat tire so I loaned him my own sockets and breaker bar, comes back 20 minutes later and i get 50 euro as a thank you :D

Heading to donegal monday...again, fun times ahead :D

No problem. I'll keep an eye out myself, maybe there will be something interesting for me some day too.

I'm not sure. Probably not since there was no disc in the window. Is there any way of checking online?

Couldn't tell you to be honest. Is this it?

No mention of DOE. Anything that does have it seems to be in the ad

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,925 ✭✭✭GvidoR

No, that's not it, there was another 05 Trafic, but yeah there was no mention of DOE, so I guess it doesn't have it.

I live outside Claremorris. Jesus i hope she is worth it. That is a fair spin. Out of curiosity what way do you go? Portlaoise-Athlone-Tuam?

She lives south of westport so it's quickest to go Galway and up, turn after balinrobe and cut across!

It's a spin and a half alright! Every second weekend usually!

They had that auction advertised for an awful long time. The esb sell them off every so often, they held one a few years back too. Wednesday evenings for normal auctions, 2 euro at the gate, and a further 250 for a bidding number. This is the latest setup, no number no bid, your 250 gets returned if you don't buy though... which I'd advise anyone not to do.

Pure chancers is all that place attracts, pure muck is all that's sold. Majority of seller/"audience" are those of a particular ethnic background.

I'll sell ya these spanners for 20 boss, kinda job!

Edit: Reading some reviews, people say there is no loss in traction in the wet.

There's ALWAYS a loss of traction in the wet.

It was €0 at the gate and €300 for a bidding number.

The engineer in me just wept that i wrote that :)

When taking the average frictional loss of a tyre in wet weather into account, the traction of the Toyo Proxes R1R is equal to or out performs the average tyre.

    YbFocus MIEI. :pac:

Tuam, milltown, claremorris, off n17 towards Ballinrobe?

Hate that road from Tuam to milltown, has had so many deaths on it in recent years, not long since a toddler was killed in a buggy just outside Tuam, and a few youngin's died when their minibus crashed near milltown. There's a load more too.

Hate that road from c/morris to ballinrobe and onwards aswell. Haven't been in Ballinrobe in a good while, furthest I've went is JJBurkes Peugeot, when we bought the 206.

Pure and utter crap, the majority of the stuff there was dogged by the looks of it. Be surprised if some even seen an oil change tbh.

They're all yellow too, that'd turn me off them completely.

Company vans are usually serviced regularly, aren't they? Although the people driving them don't give a crap about them.

I wonder do they leave any of the decent stuff in the back of them you know the ways their vans are always well kitted out in the back with proper shelving in the back.

They keep all the shelves (no tools or anything inside though) and roof racks. There is the spinning light on the roof as well, it beeps when put into reverse and there is some radio communications thing inside as well but I'm assuming it's been disabled.

Ya, you see we're from different sides of the country, I am sick to the teeth of twisty windy roads, I'm at the stage that I'd love to be on a motorway most of the time. Whereas, understandably, you are the opposite.

Loved windy roads for the first while when I started driving, now I'm like, great, another turn. I'd love a straight stretch and put the boot down.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,473 ✭✭✭YbFocus

Yeah we haven't great roads around here, really the wicklow mountains are the best near us and that's still an hour away!
I was down around Leenaun and Louisburgh, god its bloody amazing for a quick spin!

That's usually the case, doubtful about the esb though...
