    Isaiah 40:11
He will feed his flock like a shepherd.
He will carry the lambs in his arms, holding them close to his heart.
He will gently lead the mother sheep with their young.
Why does a Shepherd look after his flock? For their own benefit or for his?Is he a vegetarian?

So its better to shut up and back the majority opinion than to question the idea. ?
Didn't that get this country into problems before or have we all forgotten already.

Questioning is ok, being wilfully blind to the rebuttals isn't.

In fairness your "for balance" analogy is way off the mark. Do you really think any work of Oscar Wilde's, great though they are, have had, or could have the same influence on western society as the bible and Christianity?
All works of fiction are not equal in gravitas.

You're right, but I'm at a loss right now to think of something that would balance the symbolism of having a bible in the polling stations.

    Star Wars DVDs?

Ok I'm potentially be a little on controversial but this ultimately doesn't only effect a homosexual couple but a straight one also through IVF and surrogate parents.
Now I'd like to say first of all I don't believe children raised by homosexual are at a disadvantage in life and adoption can be clear cut.

But what I believe is their has to be some sort of law that if a child is ultimately created in an IVF type surrogate mother/sperm downer scenario that child has a legal right when older to find whoever was involved in creating them.

So in the case of let's to men have a woman be their surrogate, the child of said couple has some form of legal right to know its mothers history and potentially meet in the future or something along those lines as I said it would the situation for straight couple.

But yes it has more relevance here as neither 2 men nor 2 women can create a child.

I probably didn't explain it right and I'm sure some people probably see it similar to the no campaign stuff.

But this has nothing to do with the referendum. Whether or not it passes, these issues will still be issues.

I hope you also voted No to the presidential age change, to express your concerns about the hole in the ozone layer and the design of the new Man United away strip. After all, nobody consulted you about those either...

    That is excellent.:):D

My name is Ray. So in school, I used to get slagged Ray the Gay. These guys are now good friends of mine. Could be just a teenage thing.

I think it just depends if you are in a small town and stuff. You know how it is. Although I'm in my 30's:-). Maybe people will wake up after this weekend:-)

I've a friend and I'm surprised he wasn't campaigning for No. He's a Yes voter but he has a tendancy to fight for the other side for some strange reason. He started the No campaign for some clubs&socs vote (can't remember what it was) and then went and voted Yes. He's done the same with this referendum so I'm actually quite surprised not to see him out and about.

Yeah maybe it was close to the examination dates. There are a couple of the post grads who are in the Christian Union. Perhaps they had Vivas to be concerned about.

In fairness I'd feel that way about any couple. Gay or straight.

It's got nothing to do with conditioning it's just gross.

You'd be uncomfortable if a straight couple held hands on your morning train carriage?

I think the exams are the most probable reason

I'm uncomfortable holding hands with my boyfriend in public, nevermind seeing other people do it :P

The Irish Times are reporting that campaigners on both sides believe that a high voter turnout will carry a Yes vote.

Well before i answer this, could you answer this? If it was a Male/Female marriage and they could not have children and they went the surrogacy route would that be an issue you for you? Would you still think that child should have legal right to know who their mother was?

No Irish person should use that abomination of a word. You're not a yank, so don't talk like one.

If you read what I wrote I clearly stated that it would be the same situation for a straight couple.

Is anyone else disappointed that there was no atari jaguar option on the referendum?

Surely the "spoil your vote" option counts? :pac:

No of course not. I've done the same thing myself.

But I've seen people make really overt displays of affection in public which I believe should be left at home.

There appear to be an awful lot of people who about who definitely look like humans, but I'm wondering are they in fact occasionally functioning robots?

You said that Yes voters refuse to see the massive grey area but I'm wondering why you think your issue even relates to the referendum.

Yeah i just wanted more clarity. So great. Whats the issue? Will same sex marriages distort this? or do you want traditional married people to say whats best for everyone else and then allow SS people to marry now that they have established rules? or is it better that everyone has equal rights and more importantly a voice in the debate that will indeed come about regarding surrogacy etc.

How the **** do you get slightly confused. A five minute read of facts is all it takes.

Jaysus, the no vote, really went ballistic in the last few days. But the yes vote had the massive momentum. It's so hard to call this. Gut feeling says this is s yes by massive numbers. But then the no, well you know herself.
