Joshua weighed in 5lb heavier tonight than for his last fight. He obviously has a great physique but I would worry that too much muscle could affect his stamina when he gets into fights with guys who will take him the distance.

Probably shown more than any of Joshua's other punch bags.

Pointless exercise other than building his profile.

Think it was just to get a fight in before Kevin Johnson next month, coming back from an injury.

Joshua is brainless....very poor man's Wilder. Throwing punches after the bell and when an opponent is down is just not on. Very lucky not to get DQ'd there. He'll get found out soon enough....fighting nothing but tin cans.

Wilder fought Joshua's opponent two fights ago! Not sure how you can say he'll get found out soon enough? What's that based on?

Stupid move but wouldn't be too hard on the kid.

I would question the brainless criticism, he showed good patience & used his jab. Wilder fought nothing but "tin cans" (including Gavern the fight before Stiverne). He has the power & size to be the real deal at HW. Time will tell but for now he is doing all that can be expected.

When he fights real opposition. Wilder is no prize pig himself and they're quite comparable but Wilder took apart with ease a good HW in Stiverne, a guy who can bang. I am certain once Joshua meets a guy who can punch he'll be dumped on his ass.

At what level do you think he should be fighting at or even better name someone that you would have matched him against tonight?

Arreola, Charr, Szpilka, Takam...guys like that. He's ranked above some of them in the rankings as far as I am aware so why go after a guy like Johnson. Sure he is a step up but he'll learn nothing from it. Sparring would be better than the fights he's been having. A loss wouldn't hurt him too bad as the hype is very real and won't fade too much.

Joshua only started boxing at 18 so he has an awful lot to learn. Johnson won't offer much but he will be awkward & might take AJ into the 2nd half of the fight, that will do him much more than sparring.

Doesn't apply to Heavyweights though. Jennings the guy who's fighting Wlad took up boxing in his mid 20's. Numerous successful HW's have started late. And Joshua has every gift at his hand.

I would be impressed to an extent if he KO'd Johnson. He's a tough cookie who has survived bad beatings before. But he isn't known as safety pin for nothing, he's a mobile punching bag and nothing else.

Didn't know that. Johnson is an ideal learning fight, little danger of losing but should learn a lot & like you point out might impress people if he KO's him. He has gone the distance with Charr, Chisora & Fury in the last few years so it is a good reference point.

It's also worth remembering how much Joshua is potentially worth to Hearn. We all want to see him up at a higher level (some to see him exposed, others who think he will thrive there) but Hearn is going to manage him very carefully.

What are people's opinion here on Joshua's muscle mass? Is there a case to make for him losing some muscle to increase his speed and endurance?

He does look more like a bodybuilder than boxer alright and he does appear sluggish carrying all that bulk around. Then again Wlad physique is very impressive too although he appears to handle it a lot better. I think an issue with stamina is definitely at play with Joshua and it may be recommended he stays off the heavyweight to improve other aspects of boxing other than power.
