Savage PaddyBarry, not you, the time:)

Well done, but with the sessions you'd banked I'm not at all surprised

Back running this week. Legs are good bar some niggle below my right calf.
    Monday 6.11 miles @7.55 m/m.
    http://connect.garmin.com/activity/625832248

    Tuesday 8.83 miles @ 8.06 m/m.
    http://connect.garmin.com/activity/626668457

    Wednesday 5 miles @ 6.48 m/m.
    http://connect.garmin.com/activity/627100837

    Thursday 10.98 miles @ 8.19 m/m.
    http://connect.garmin.com/activity/627792465

    Friday 7.75 miles @ 8.10 m/m.
    http://connect.garmin.com/activity/628263520

Hopefully start doing some sessions next week. My plan is to work on my 5k pace for next few weeks. I have been looking at some logs to find some suitable sessions. Next goal race is Jingle Bells where I hope to go sub 17mins.

Have given serious thought to joining a club as I hate doing sessions on my own and I would undoubtedly benefit from specific sessions and training with quicker runners. Unfortunately, family life makes it difficult to commit so for the time being I will tip away on my own.

Might do a Parkrun tomorrow if the legs feel ok in the morning.

About 7.5miles today including 5 mile progression from 6.27 m/m to 6.03 m/m. Gave the Parkrun a miss as the weather was brutal. Hope to start on more 5k specific sessions next week.

    Today 2 mile w/u + 5mile tempo @6.04 m/m + 2 mile c/d.

Got destroyed by rain doing this. I hate doing sessions on my own. On the positive side, they are good for mental strength.

Good stuff. I think we live quite close to one another (not stalking :)) so give me a shout when doing something similar.

There was a lad ahead of me for about a couple of hundred yards and then I took over the lead from him.

Tough old course but a great workout.

Must have a gawk at the pics when they go up later so!!
You possibly asked me before the race if the course was the normal one? I replied that it was and that I had been putting the flags out. Was that you by any chance?

No that was not me. I was wearing a running jacket with yellow DS Racers. I was taking to Joe and Tom for a bit afterwards, think you were there too.

Yep, I think I know you now, I had a Blue DCM finishers top on and green shorts and beard.
I'll have a look at the pics when they are up and will introduce myself next time!!

My left knee has been bothering me since Sunday's run. I ran quite a hilly route three out of four days and I don't think my knees appreciate it. I have tight glutes/hip flexors and so have been doing plenty of stretches.

Was going to take today off but after reading some of the updates in the training logs on here, I was motivated enough to try one of ecoli's sessions.

Plan was 4*5mins@5k pace (off 2minutes recovery).
    Rep 1 - 5.37 m/m.
    Rep 2 - 5.44 m/m.
    Rep 3 - 5.36 m/m
    Rep 4 - 5.50 m/m.

I jogged the first two minutes but walked the other three. Found this tough, especially the last rep. Did not hit the paces I had hoped for but happy enough with actual times. Thankfully the knee was okay.

Still not happy with my knee. May have to go to physio during the week if no improvement.

Impressive running today. To lead from the front on a windy day for the entire race shows a lot of strength. Loads more there if you latch on to a some strong runners on a fast course. 16.xx must be a target soon?

Thanks. Hopefully go sub 17 at Jingle Bells. Great to see the numbers getting bigger at Tymon. I have great time for the two older lads who finished top five. Hope I'm going as good at that age.
