Doesn't seen like we're going to get anymore players in anyway.

    Based on what?

Seeing arsenal might be in for Cavani. If they buy him, PSG will certainly get di Maria, no question about that I reckon.

Rumours of Cavani to Arsenal if true bye bye Di Maria

Agree the fee and Give Rojo the phone...

I don't think di Maria really opens us up to other formations. We still wouldn't have the central midfield players.

I agree he wouldn't right now, but imo our squad as it currently is plus Di Maria is definitely good enough for top 4 this year. Once we do finally get the central midfielders we're going to be looking for a top class winger and it's more than likely there won't be any as good as Di Maria available.

We got 3 problems at moment IMO.

Very inexperienced defence with need for top class center half.

Complete lack of creativity in midfield.

Lack of pace, counter attack ability and width in attack.

Di Maria will solve one of those problems anyway and its a start. Wed get away with defence if we stick to a flat back 4 and avoid injuries.

Herrera will improve the creativity in midfield, linking with mata, if we get a combative midfielder to give him a bit of freedom.

City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool have reinforced with class. We have brought in 2 players with potential.

    Tick tock.

I never thought I would say this but at this stage I would be delighted to sign De Jong.

There are four better teams than us as of today IMO

We are only 2 or 3 players away from having a top side but still so far, getting those players is like our Everest at the moment

De Jong would be a good fit just now, would help shore up our porous midfield.

    Di Maria?

    No thanks.

Not until our more pressing problems in midfield and defence are resolved.

And even then I've a bad "caveat emptor" feeling about this guy.

There's a huge hole in your master plan.

The defenders are made of glass. I fear for who we'll end up playing there this season.

I think Herrera will play there at least once.

Have to be honest, I thrive off rumours, and not just for us, for any team, the transfer window is on par with the last few games of the season, it plays a big part in who does what, and I can't remember a year when there has been less talk about who we are actually in for. Some say we're being all secretive, it'll be good, wait until the last day, but all I can think is Fellaini.

This has to be the worst window we ve had. Even though we ve signed a few players, our main rivals who we were already lagging behind have all bought well and strengthened their weak spots from last season. If we dont act decisively in the next fortnight we re only going to fall further behind

So that's what that mystery post was earlier. I thought you were posting in the wrong thread or something..:pac:

McCarthy would be an underwhelming signing at this point but might compliment Herrera. Give us a bit of bite in the middle all the same.

He will fit better than Di Maria but him and Di Maria would be bingo.

Mccarthy is better than he s given credit for. A big improvement in what we have at the moment

So Ancelotti confirms Di Maria wants to leave and now suggestions that PSG have accepted 40 million from Arsenal for Cavani.

If true (which it probably isn't) I doubt it's a coincidence.

We're Manchester U-f*cking-nited. Of course we can get a player from Everton. Not sure if he's the answer though.

I think he's seriously under rated, would have much preferred him to Fellaini last year.

Scholes was a class player but wrote or ghost wrote a rubbish article in Irish Indo today, claimed 5 signings needed in rest if transfer window to save the club from doing a Liverpool on it ...ie disappearing for 20 yrs.
    Khedira,Di Maria,Xabi Alonso,Varane and Mats Hummels.
In fairness as if Real Madrid would sell likes of Varane!!

If true I am disgusted by first part of article where Scholesy said that when he was helping Giggs in April club directors sounded him out on if they should go after Tony Kroos or Cescs Fabregas this summer.Scholes told them to go after and get both of them.
    Hmmmm,what happened to that plan;(.

    Yes.

We needed much more this summer, IMO, and not got close. The squad should have performed better last season, but I see a lack of improvement this summer while the other top sides have improved. We are further off top four quality than last season.
