What you think of the new card from the National Lottery -

    Average 1 in 3.5 wins .

That means you may need to spend €70 before you ever win .

And then you may win no more than a €5 scratch-card .

But sure isn't that why it's called a lottery? You could spend €20 on a quick pick ticket and your odds would be nowhere near 1 in 3.5 of even winning a scratch card so I don't see why there would be a problem with this card in particular.

All cash are like 5.7 in 1 aren't they? Never seen these green ones but know a friend won 500e on one

1in 3.7 wins cash is actually pretty good odds for a Lottery game. I think All Cash is somehwere like 1 in 5.X wins cash.

National Lottery getting greedier every year, I was shocked when they released and promoted €10 all cash spectacular (which sells 1000's of units every week) 20 is crazy though, in poorer areas with poor sods buying 5 a week may aswell start putting slots in the dole office

If people can't control their gambling that's hardly the fault of the National Lottery. That's like lambasting Diageo specifically because there are too may alcoholics. If people have a problem they'll get their fix somewhere. If it doesn't go on a scratch card you can be sure it'll be on a horse or a match.

Maybe you should look at what could be done to help the gambling addicts rather than complain about an organisation which provides a service which is enjoyed responsibly by hundreds of thousands of other people.

Of course its not their fault people cant control themselves. Incorrect about them losing it elsewhere however, there is a significant percentage of 'scratcher gamblers' who have gone from buying €2 all cash to €20.

I don't buy the 'its their own fault' approach to problem gambling, especially when its being blatently fed at the expense of the sufferer for the financial gain of a massive company.

The lotto is without doubt going to become a more aggresive, non charitable entity in the coming years

The National Lottery motto is '' Play responsibly - Play for Fun ''

PP motto is '' Maintain the balance - A fun experience in a safe environment ''

So the main theme would be that we buy their products for the craic , and enjoyment .

Winning or losing becomes a personal choice .

where do you get your figures?

    ...or are they made up?

    I suspect the latter.

1 in 3.5 wins cash prize. Winning a scratchcard is in addition to that.

also its an average - you could buy 5 tickets and win nothing and you could buy 5 and win on every one of them.

€20 for a scratch card is a lot but they will get loads of publicity
when someone wins €10k on one.
Expect a lot more in the future from the lottery due their poor results as
they go looking to increase revenue.

The state shouldn't be selling nonsense like this. The whole lottery thing is bad for citizens but good for politicians. They use the proceeds from this con job to buy off constituents and gain votes at the next election.

Well it is no longer state run having been sold to a british company. It wasnt huge news at the time which means the previous 'good will' is being weeded out without people knowing. Im sure the terms of the deal ensure a certain amount of charity remains though.

The new focus is online online and more online. the lotto website will be similar to an online casino in the months to come. Marketing time and money is going into the 5,10 and now 20 euro scratchers with the 10's especially being an amazing success
