But why would we want a part of that? Unless it's the only terms that they will do business on.

I don't believe that we would sign Lambert as a tag-on to the Lallana deal unless we wanted Lambert anyway, in which case we can pay a combined fee and not care about what they do with it...

I agree, just posting on a hypothetical situation really....

No mention of it in the British papers, from Reuters, The Press Association or SSN either. In fact I didn't hear about it from Rickie Lambert. They're all obviously full of s**t and know nothing.

Not 100% sure what he meant but i think it was reference to the guys on twitter who claim to be "ITK"

Lambert, Lallana & Lovren will make Liverpool some L of a team.

    Sorry.

    Be 'L for Southampton though

I'm guessing your more than likely trying to get a dig in at LFC by completely absolving Southampton of blame with this post but it is an interesting point about screwing Bournemouth over.

Southampton are the only team to benefit if such a deal is even true. Its nothing more than speculation really, but if it were 100% true, i would have been a bit uncomfortable with it being honest. But look at it from Southamptons point of view. A player that has been with them since he was 12, brought through the ranks and developed professionally by the club will have to shell out 25% to Bournemouth. Now, fair is fair and that money is owed but its not hard to see why Southampton would want to cut Bournemouth out, not that i agree with it.

No your assumption is completely wrong. Of course Southampton stand to gain much more from the deal, if it goes ahead, than Liverpool.

My only concern is where does that leave Borini

They would be used for different reasons. Lambert for Sturridge, Borini for Suarez. If we need to control the game, we chose Lambert and it will stick better. If we need to stretch their defence, bring on Borini to work the channels and keep them, honest.

But who takes pens? Stevie, then Lambert, then Suarez, then Borini? They have all shown their ability. We'd be a cracking bet if a game ever went to Pens...

I'd imagine it would leave Borini with Liverpool. We're trying to add depth to the squad. Suarez, Sturridge, Borini and Lambert would give us that depth as well as different types of threats.

Options options borini and lambert give us those. I would loved some of that last season.

moses and aspas were 2 totally ineffective players from the bench.

Part of me is surprised we are going for it, part of me is surprised Lambert is okay with being 3rd (maybe even 4th??) choice.

Its not a bad buy at all, although I had heard 4m last night which is now being rumoured as 8-10m so its no longer cheap.

Maybe he wants someone Fashionable like a Dzeko?

Which is Nuts, since those kind of Strikers aren't exactly Cheap. And we're not Swimming in Money like a Chelsea or Man City, that can Afford to have Strikers with 100K+ Wages on the Bench.

Another thing is, it's not exactly a Position we need to Strengthen. I mean, it's probably our Best Position in Terms of Depth and Quality (Sturridge, Suarez). And besides we also have Borini, to shoulder some of the CF Responsibility if need be.

So I'm not really sure why we need a 4th Striker. Specially, since we're also in the Market for a Goal-scoring Winger (Griezmann, Shaqiri, Kono) to Complement our already Formidable Frontline.

Still, if the 4M + Price is True, that's actually a Good Deal.

With the extra games Liverpool need additional resources. For 4M you wouldnt get a better attacking option than Lambert. Those goalscoring wingers you mention are necessary to compliment Sterling and Coutinho as they are the only ones we have while Borini can play out there somewhat also while Ibe is very raw. Adding one of those and Lallana would get different options for various games

A CM would be nice to add to the squad now as Henderson's absence last year showed just how thin we are in that dept. A decent centre half with Moreno for LB and ther transfer work is pretty much done unless they add another GK to the mix.

The extra games should place more pressure on the squad in terms of injuries, suspension and tiredness. Its a good sign that Liverpool are gettting in a number of players as it shows they've been successful

I think it is more of a case of Sky and the Grauniad saying 8M, while the Echo and BBC saying 4M + add ons. I know who i'd believe...

4Million decent proven purchase that doesn't need any Premier League settling in time. 10 million stupid waste of money on a 32 year old! Craziness.

My concern is squad strength. Signing Lambert gives us 4 forwards who can score. Far better position than last season for minimal outlay.

If 8 gets Lallana for 15(as is rumoured) is it a waste?

Yes, i agree.....i was hoping to see more of Borini this season, but of course having different options will be key as we will have to use the squad more next season.

I suppose the real question should have been where does it leave Aspas. Gone i would imagine

Aspas is defo gone, hes been replaced by someone who CAN score.

What im worried about now is where lambert is in our grand transfer plan.... is he the start of an amazing swoop, or the continuation of a whimper....

How about Southamptons groundsman? He was knocking out some cracking designs last season, we could use him as back up for cup games?

    Spot on there Pilsbury .

More Borini is a definite after proving himself at Sunderland. Aspas will hopefully be shown the door. He wasn't given much of a chance but whenever he was played he looked utterly useless.

Lambert might not be the most exciting signing but he makes sense. Suarez, Sturridge, Lambert and Borini are good options for up front, there was no point in splashing out £10m+ on a player who is clearly going to be spending a lot of time on the bench. Getting him for £4m would be good business, and allows us to focus on where we really need to strengthen for the rest of the summer.

Can I just register my shock that Paul Lambert looks like being the new manager, and Barca have got themselves a coach that will get them back on top very quickly.
