One that has been overlooked somewhat (with all the clamour about Rossiter, McLoughlin and Teix), I see that Lloyd Jones has started the last 2 England U19 games, along with Ibe. Jones played for Wales a U17, so they only his clearance to switch, and he is in the side.

He's a monster of a kid, 6'3" at 18 years of age and already filled out more than the likes of Kelly was at that age. He has been a mainstay of the U21s, made 20 starts last season, usually alongside Paez. We did concede a few last season, but out midfield isn't very good at protecting the two big CBs. He could save us a lot of money in a couple of years...

    very true.

I want to see him and Paez partner up more, as I think they could be big players for the future in a dept that we have suffered with for years now.

Has anyone been watching him much on loan in Spain? If he leaves could it be a decision that the club may be left ruing down the line?
Watched about half the games. The big problem for Suso was that the quality of football played at Almeria was really low. Other than the Barcelona loanee, link up between Almeria players in the final third was awful, and often it was up to Suso to single-handedly pull some magic out of the bag to put a pass or cross in for an attacker. It meant Suso spent large parts of the game either defending or trying high-risk dribbles/passes because the nearest player to him could have been 30-40 yards away. In fairness though, he never gave up and his goals/assists tally is decent considering the difficulties he faced.

For me, there are other players less suited to the club that we should be offloading (Aspas, Luis Alberto, I'd also probably even have Borini in there).

But in really, they won't start on an equal footing. And every time Migs makes an error, there will be a clambour to replace him. I don't know if it improves us. It worked at United with Lindegard and De Gea, the latter picked up his game in the face of competition, but he was a young keeper and had some maturing to do anyway...

Lindegaard was signed before De Gea IIRC. Personally I think ~£5m for Vorm is good business. I can't think of a better keeper for that price.

If we could get him for that, I could live with it! But he's put his place in the Dutch squad at risk is not playing...

I think Lindergaard was there under VDS, but De Gea was signing as a starter. When Lindergaard was brought in, it certainly kicked De Gea up the Bishop Brennan and once he got back in, his level was much improved...

Some one of us had already noted Jones elevation to the England U19s! That squad overall looks rather better than the U21s/Toulon crowd right now.

#LFC are on the verge of poaching another youngster from Valencia, Fran Villalba, leaving them up in arms with the Anfield outfit. (Marca)

Ah now, this child trafficing has to stop! :p

Further to the above - Dani Parejo is also linked from Valencia but the bad blood over Chirivella and now Villalba is not going to help according to this

I had noticed, but after Ibe scored a hat trick in the first game, all the focus was naturally on him.

Agree on the U20 side, there is a lot of fillers in there. But they are not just putting out the best/most experienced team, as Butland, McEachran and Berahino were all on the bench. And Sterling, Shaw and Barkley all with the senior side...

    well would you believe it...
Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has urged England boss Roy Hodgson to emulate Liverpool's attacking style of play at the World Cup in Brazil.

Scholes said Liverpool's "swagger" this season, in which they fell just short of a first league title since 1990, reminded him of "United at their best".

"It would be refreshing for England to adopt Liverpool's attacking mentality," said Scholes.

"That means four - and possibly five - Liverpool players in the starting XI."

Liverpool, rejuvenated under manager Brendan Rodgers, scored 101 goals in the league this season as they finished just two points adrift of champions Manchester City.

They topped the table with three matches to go but faltered to let City claim their second title in three years.

    Nevertheless, Liverpool's performances impressed Scholes.

"The thing I admired most was the swagger of their play and how they terrorised opponents, which reminded me of United at their best," he wrote in a blog for bookmakers Paddy Power.

At the heart of Liverpool's rise were captain Steven Gerrard, Daniel Sturridge, Raheem Sterling, Jordan Henderson and Glen Johnson, who are all in Hodgson's 23-man squad.

"I'd definitely start with Gerrard, Sturridge, Henderson and Sterling," said Scholes. "The question mark is Johnson at right-back."
    a smart man is Scholes.

So is he the next Xavi, the Spanish Messi, just really good to sign in Football Manager?

    **** tackler though!
"The question mark is Johnson at right-back."

Not wrong about this however, maybe playing in a slightly different environment will give him a boost.

OH Real after Aguero according to the Star (yeah yeah), hopefully there is a shred of truth in it.

Johnson barely deserves to be at the WC, let alone start.

I actually quite enjoyed seeing him as a pundit a few weeks back (cant remember the game) He came across as knowledgeable, honest & unbiased. Wouldnt mind hearing more from him in that role.

Think it was the Manchester Derby he did that time. I'd pretty much agree with everything he seems to have said recently (wilshere, moyes, rooney, arsenal having no leaders etc). He very understated in what he says and doesnt constantly go for the soundbite like Keane.

In case they don't get Shaw?

They have been linked along with Man Utd, Arsenal for a while. Chelsea can throw them a better player than Suso - could it be the difference? On the other hand if they want Luke Shaw it would be overkill even by their standards.

Maybe someone like Atsu, or Thorgen Hazard? Certainly they can offer more in that regard, but who is to say he'll want to go there and fight for his place with Az?

That's actually a decent account, not just chasing hits.
I wouldn't be surprised if all were true, doesn't mean we will get any of them though.

Rodgers said a while back that we would sign a few defenders, so maybe add Moreno to that list?

Back 4 below would be very decent.

    Flanagan-Lovren-Sakho-Moreno

If Real did buy Aguero, next step for City is a bid for Suarez...
Chelsea would be nuts to sell Hazard.
