Lallana joins Spurs. Rodgers comes out with 'Well its his loss'.

Lallana becomes Sigurdsson MKII, and we all smile at avoiding a £30mil bullet

in other news Ukrainian media saying Konoplyanka is staying put..

    *warning - Goggle translate ahead.
According to the program Dnipro Football, 24-year-old midfielder Dnieper and the national team of Ukraine Yevhen Konoplyanka summer will not change the club.

The new coach of the Dnieper insisted that the club kept the midfielder, and it looks like the parties failed to agree. Note that Miron Markevich is a longtime admirer of talent Linnet.

Recall, in recent weeks the British media has been at Manchester United Ukrainian matchmaker.

England squad off to Miami at the weekend.

If the Lallana deal is going to be done before the world cup, it'll have to be done before then I reckon.

If Tw@tter was to be believed, then Lallana was supposed to have been signed by us yesterday.

Things will change again, but I am sure very little activity is going to happen between now and the end of the World Cup. Remember, it's only 2 weeks until it starts!

Not sure if anything big will happen before the WC.

I hope we can get the players we want before the WC inflation kicks in.

If Spurs are willing to pay £30 million for Lallana they can have him.

If he really wants to join us and play CL football then he should hand in a transfer request and his price will drop.

Let's see how much he wants to play CL and is he prepared to give up money in the short term to do it.

Exactly. Assuming any of this is true Spurs bidding 30 million suggests they have learned nothing from last summer.

    Couldn't put it better myself.

Up to the player entirely, if he wants to force the move he knows what to do. If it's a bidding war, we should walk away.

He's been at Southampton since he was 12 years old. Why should he put in a transfer request and deny a club he's been with for 14 years a chance to cash in? If we want to pay and get him we have to pay Southamptons price, its not up to a player to make it easy for us.

All the world cup inflation talk, who's to say the players Rodgers wants will even be at the world cup?

The Lallana deal bugs me in one way and one way only. I like him as a player but the world wouldnt stop spinning if we didnt, what would bug me is if we didnt get him there would be howls of anguish that we missed another 'target', we are PERFECTLY entitled to not pay over the odds for a player.

    +1

We give out so much as football fans that players have no loyalty to the club that developed them.

Then when we desire a player, we give out that he will not hand in a transfer request to his club to make it easier on us.

We can't have it both ways, lads.

Law of averages says some are bound to be. You cannot exclude a large number of top class players just because they are away at the WC...

    Shaqiri news -

Bayern Munich winger Xherdan Shaqiri admits he is open to a summer move but will only go to a team which is in the Champions League.
“It’s clear that if change (team) I am going to a big club. The Champions League is important for me. If I go, also it will be to a club abroad, but only to a team which fights for the title. We will see what happens this summer, I do not rule out completing my contract here,” Shaqiri told 20 minutes in his native Switzerland.

They won't sell to another German club, and I don't think he's ideal for Spain, and Italian clubs have limited appeal (and money), so England is a likely destination. So we have a very good shout, if we are interested...

Because he's a professional footballer who's interest is maximising his own financial and professional outcome. No club can dictate where a player moves to. If he wants to come to LFC and Southampton don't accept our offer he can stay at Southampton and wait to move on a free if necessary. No one wants an unhappy player at their club so in the end, despite thumping the table a bit etc Southampton will either allow him to move to LFC for an amount LFC are prepared to pay or they'll try and keep him sweet with an improved contract. No amount of cajoling will get him to move to Spurs or any other club for that matter if his heart is set on LFC.

A transfer request will simply expedite the process. Southampton will still get a fair price for the player and make a significant profit on him.

Pretty useless snippet by Bild, that can be true for anything that doesn't happen right now, in this instant.

How did you feel about Suarez last summer?

I agree given those inflated prices we should have waited till this summer to sell Shelvey.

Should never have sold him, did you not see that goal during the season he scored. Rodgers biggest error in the transfer market.

How did you feel about Suarez last summer?
Exactly the same. When he was unhappy my preference was for the club to do whatever it took to make him happy (which thankfully they did) and if that wasn't possible to sell him. The club took a big risk by not agreeing to sell him and it paid off but it could have backfired spectacularly if he had taken the hump, not bothered his ar$e for the season and/or deliberately gotten into more trouble resulting in bans etc. If that had happened not only would we have not had the great season we just had but we'd not be looking to off load a player who most clubs wouldn't touch with a barge pole due to his behaviour and lack of form for the whole season. We'd be looking at no CL football next year and lucky to get £10m for him.

Players hold all the cards. Suarez came round and was genuinely happy to stay. That won't always be the case with other players looking to move on.

What has that got to do with anything? I dont know Lallana as a person but I'd imagine a player being with a club that long wouldn't like to leave in those circumstances without a proper bid being tabled. Southampton haven't even declined a bid yet.

If he wants to move to Liverpool he can wait out and see what happens, he does not and should not be expected to hand in a transfer request unless Southampton refuses to sell.

Have Southampton have declined any offers? Did Liverpool send in an official bid?
