I genuinely don't care what we pay for players as long as we don't use up the budget and have to go without an additional player. If they chose to pay an extra 2/3M to get it done early and ensure another club don't get him, then why should I care?

2/3 million over is fine....in the case of Lalana it's about 15 million over

In our position with 20m+ your talking about top quality players that will walk into our team. Lallana wouldn't even be a guaranteed starter. He's good and had a very good season but not an upgrade on what we have.

There is no excuse this window not to buy top quality. For years now we've been told its lack of CL etc......we dont need to overpay for decent players. We'll have a decent budget, CL football, BR, quality players and a very bright future.......we would be a good destination for any quality player who wants to compete.

Ignoring the price, I think it depends on who else we buy. If we don't sign another goalscorer, than Sanchez is the right call. If we do, then we need more creativity in midfield.

So let's say it's either Lallana and Shaqiri, or Kono and Sanchez, for example...

Better not, he is not worth half that, his englishness is the only thing pushing up the price, there is no way he is even as good as Coutinho but there is talk about paying 3 and 4 times the price we got the Count for. Shocking stuff...

19 league goals last year as a winger, ill have some of that for 25 million no problem.

The transfer market is really inflated, if you want quality you are going to have to pay alot for it.

He is easily worth 20 but more importantly he is worth whatever the manager thinks is worth paying for his part in a number of systems.

Football fans are hilarious at times, take Luke Shaw - I bet some here would think he is worth the much-vaunted price of 30m and yet he plays one position.

Maybe Coutinho was hugely undervalued by a club which has shown itself to be pretty stupid on a consistent basis.

Carrick went to United from Spurs for almost 20m, which would probably be similar to spending 25-30m on Lallana today.

If he had a Carrick like impact for us, I doubt many would complain.

I'm not pushed either way, to be honest. Finding very hard to get attached or invested with any of the rumours at the moment.

He's only 25, has an almost 1 in 2 record for both Barca and Chile. And a 1 in 3 assist record. He only really had one great season at Udinese, they bought him thinking he was going to kick, which I don't think has really happened. But he's a very talented attacking player, and should be only hitting his peak years now...

He is pushed out wide to make way for Messi, Xavi and Iniesta through the middle, and he is much more effective (like Luis) when running into the box and defenders need to make decisions...
