I wouldn't dream of writing off Illori so quickly, I firmly believe that all young players who stand out at underage level should be given a chance of some sort in the first team. He wasn't needed last summer though, that was my initial point, apologies for not making that clearer.

Alberto looked decent against Norwich(I think it was) and hasn't been seen since, a strange one because I believe he has all the attributes needed to succeed.

Aspas and Cissokho were a waste of £12m though. That extra cash could have got us Mkhitaryan in August and Konoplyanka in January.

I dont think money had any impact on the Mki..that lad who went to Dortmund...deal, he picked a side he felt would have a better chance of winning trophies. Hope it backfires spectacularly.

Cissohko was a very very necessary loan arrangement at a time when we had a fairly pressing need at LB due to injuries.

Having the money and being willing to go above a price you believe represents value are different things, not sure even if Liverpool had the funds used for other transfers they would have went for Kono. Also, wouldn't have won us the league, a really top quality MF might have where he would have played the minutes Lucas played...has looked a shadow of his former self and we should have been more ruthless in replacing him. We weren't short of goals, but we were short of protection / ball winner in front of the DF

We didn't buy Cissokho, and Aspas was about £7.5M.
Mkhitaryan was not missed out on cause of money, he chose a team operating at a might higher level.
And Kono deal was agreed but the owner wouldn't sell...

We apparently paid 5m as a loan fee for Cissokho.

So how long is Rodgers contract for? All ive seen is 'long term contract'.

Rodgers best bit of business this summer will be his own signing.

    No chance.

Unless we paid an obscene loan fee for Cissokho then they didn't cost £12 million.

Cissokho was a solid option which we were extremely fortunate to have after Enrique got locked in Assaidi's bathroom for the year.

Aspas allowed Borini to go out on loan and get some much needed game time to develop, and can probably be sold on if necessary without much of a loss.

Mkhitaryan was never choosing us over BVB, and who knows what the fcuk went on regarding Konoplyanka.

No, we didn't - I think he was available for £1M after his loan was finished, so no way we paid a loan fee of more than a few hundred K - they wanted him off the wagebill!

The thing it, we don't know what might have happened it we had a deeper squad. If we had signed Kono in Jan, he would have been starting ahead of Sterling, and we might have missed some of Raheem's moments of magic against Everton, City and Soton. I think Henderson was missed, but there were many other factors that caused us to not win 2 of the games he missed...

It's been said a few times now; if we lost the league we did it in the 1st half of the season where we accumulated 8 fewer points than in the 2nd half.

That'll be grand. After winning a PL and CL double back to back four times they'll go with my blessing.

Tis pretty well documented that ilori was brought in for the future, fairly certain there's an interview with rodgers on the lfc site where he ever goes as far to say he had an initial settling in period and it was always planned to loan him in january, i wouldnt be surprised if he was loaned again even though i am interested/looking forward to seeing him play some first team ball with us.

Have the Cissokho & Moses loans finished yet - any confirmation they are returning to their clubs?

Yep was announced there last week. We released 5/6 players and the two buckos returned to their parent clubs after their loans.

I think it's for the best if we sell Ilori. It can't be doing his confidence any good when he reads his name spelled incorrectly here so often, and my sources tell me he reads here all the time.

Skaertel should be able to give him some advice to get through it.

I've seen it spelt a number of different ways but that's a first.

True this. Some people are focussing on "the slip" as if it was the only mistake of the whole campaign. The fact we can easily list off the half dozen obvious mistakes since Christmas actually says how few of them there were (Refs bottling it at City and Chelsea, Kolo slip, Hendo sending off, Gerrard slip, not closing out Palace).

A full season at that level of inconsistency would win us a nice set of trophies :o

Liverpool FC paid £850,000 to take the player on loan.

If that's how much it cost to send Cissokho back the whole summer transfer budget must've been used getting Chelsea to take Moses back

If we're looking in hindsight at individual errors, the costliest one for me in the title race was Mignolets woeful attempted save of Negredo's shot in Dec. 3 point swing in the title race. Gerrard's slip only cost us 1 point realistically.

Ilori on loan till Christmas with an option of full season so he can get used to playing in England.

Derby should be our Chapionship loan team.

That is a good one I'd be very happen to see that as long it's Lovren and not Clyne.

Ah to be honest, I thought Cissokho did okay. He filled a gap when needed.

Moses, on the other hand, was disappointing. Never really tucked into that 20 goal target.

Cissohko did what was asked without much panache. No harm. Moses I think has some ability but seemed lost, not sure he or Liverpool benefited from his loan. Looked like he never really bought into the idea of it, maybe he feels he is a better player than Sterling and thought he'd feature more. He's going nowhere at Chelsea. He'll be at West Ham soon enough...

Pochettino looks like he is advanced talks with Spurs.

    BBC can't link right now.

    Southampton fire sale ahead.
