Quick question; I had originally only applied to rcsi and ucd! Recently I added UL and ucc... Will my application be considerd by them? and do I need to send them anything special or is it just a matter of selecting them on the cao website?

Do you think you're headed to UL or UCC?

Thanks mate! What unis have you applied to? also it'll be interesting to know what everyone's first degree was in? Any pharmacy graduates?

Sorry, didn't see this. I have UCD, RCSI, UCC, UL. I have a 56, so I should end up in UCC. It looks like an amazing course, very excited.

I have a 1.1 in physics from DCU... which was of minimal use in the GAMSATs. But I have always been obsessed with physiology, so learning the chemistry was actually fun. I'll have a huge deficit in Pharmacology though when I start. *Fingers crossed*

I am really hoping for rcsi! But with a 54 I'm not sure where I'll end up if anywhere. I have a 2.1 in pharmacy, I'm doing my pre-reg "placement' year at the moment! Ucc would also be great, just hoping scores will drop just a tad lol

And dont worry about pharma... It's not that bad!

Well, I think Mecci (or Another ) pointed out that UCD dropped from 56 in round 0, to 54 in round 2 last year. So, there is a good chance dude. Who knows what will happen. Who would of thought a 57 could have gotten you into RCSI ???? Not I, Not I.

I think that last sentence is in iambic pentameter.

Under 700. I got the exact figure from someone ( hopefulGM DroghedaTutor). But don't know if that's low or high??? Sounds low to me :/

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60 ✭✭tk09aag

That does sound low! Well if you consider that people people who scored 50 or lower have a low chance of making it! Then you have roughly 500 applicants competing for about 150 places?

I'm also a uk applicant so not sure if that will improve my chances or not :/

sorry, the figure of 700 didn't come from me.

sorry, the figure of 700 didn't come from me.

The UCC admissions office told me that 672 people have applied in total.

It was UCC that went from 56 to 54* last year, not UCD sadly.. That would be amazing though!

UCD definitely did not drop to 54 last year.

    "Who would of thought"

For the love of god and your GAMSAT score, don't write this in your essay. Basic grammar and spelling are key to a good score.

Neither ucd or rcsi took anyone below 57 in last year guys. Ucd was 57 for 2 people in round two. Nowhere near to 54!!

Wasn't me who said this ;)
If anyone is already ringing CAO about transcripts etc maybe ask how many applicants there were for grad med this year...that should give an idea if points will come down or not

Fees for UCD and UL are same as last year.

    UCD €14,915
    UL €14,843

For some reason this won't let me post links, but the above are on the Fees pages of the uni websites.

Hi!! I am also doing my pre-reg year and I am hoping for ucd! Do u think you would start this year or defer until next year if u get offered a place? I want to be sure I pass my pre reg exam in October so im not sure whether I should start this sept or not! (Thats if u are even allowed to defer!)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60 ✭✭tk09aag

My pre reg exam is in a couple of weeks! And I can't focus because of this GAMSAT thing! Lol I can see where you're coming from but again uni starts in late September so I don't think it'll affect you pre reg exam that much. What was your GAMSAT score? Where are you doing your pre reg

Also does anyone when cao usually publishes the GAMSAT cut offs?

Round 0 offers are July 31st/Aug 1st. We have a week to accept. Round 1 offers are made on Aug 18th.

They don't publish the cut-offs until a couple of hours after the offers have been released. They wouldn't have the cut-offs yet anyway cause they still have to wait for newly graduated people to have their transcripts approved in mid July

Congrats everyone on their results! Like others have said, keep on going if you are nearly there, good luck in future gamsats! Any ucd heads, see you in september and let me know if you have any questions (I'm finishing my third year).

How are you / your classmates getting by with finances Cosle?

The points should drop OR finance should be as tight as possible, so I can get my 1st choice.

Most people are getting on fine. We were lucky though, the last year AIB were offering a loan so we have up to 25 thousand to play with. Two handy pieces of information that I think a lot of people don't know is that if you are over 23 when you start the course, you can claim job seekers allowance for time off and also you can claim tax back on the fees of the course and can get up to 1,4000 back. Helps anyway!
