With the State of Ukraine right now, I wonder why we aren't getting many Links from the Players there? I mean, if I were a Player there, I'd do everything to get a Transfer.

Wouldn't mind getting Alex Teixiera from Donetsk. He closely reminds me of Willian, whenever I see him Play.

So Liverpool are seriously interested in Can (CM who can play DM/LB) , Son (AMC, 2nd striker), Lallana (No 10), Shaqiri (LW) with Milner (midfield, right wing) a maybe. Plus a couple more "exotic" types mentioned.

Well they can't all be signed.

Very unlikely Milner will be sold with City's awful homegrown quota. Lesser still that they'd sell him to a direct rival.

I simply don't believe the Milner Link.

Not because I think he's not gettable. But Man City would not be that Stupid to let go, one of their few Homegrown Player, that they actually use.

From what I've read, Richards, Sinclair and Rodwell are all leaving. While both Barry and Lescot are Out of Contracts this Summer.

That's already 5 HG Players gone. There's no way, they're letting Milner leave after that.

Not according to the locals, 1 oclock kick offs in the northern games are "inhumane"

    http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/27187741

Your citing needs a little work.:)

England play Italy at 6pm and Uruguay at 4pm where temperatures and humidity is supposed to be favourable.
Their final group game is in Belo Horizonte v Chile at 1pm where average temps are much lower than London for the time of year, closer to Dublin in May!

On Milner, just to add to what has already been said. I reckon it's a ploy by his agent to get a new contract out of City for his client. He'll be aware, as well the agent of the other home grown players there of how City should really keep them.

From bits n bobs over the years and full games against BVB, well he's an athletic box to box player, but versatile too and can play anywhere in midfield. When he played against Dortmund, I remember him in the home game playing more as a LW at times and he did a good job. I'm fairly sure he played LB at the Westfalenstadion too. I'll have to find proof of that later though, near certain he did for a large period of time anyway. When he was linked a couple of days ago, I had assumed he was going to be being signed as the young defensive midfielder Rodgers was on about in the pre-game interview vs Shamrock Rovers, but the more I think about it, it's probably his versatility, along with athleticism and age that are the selling points than just having him in mind for one position. Henderson aside, we badly need legs in that midfield which showed up with Henderson was suspended during the run in. Or maybe I'm wrong, and there is still a young DM we will target too, which I would love for it to be Mainz DM, Johannes Geis who is also 20 years old. Can isn't an orthodox DM though by any means, but he can do a job there. I think to use a player to paint of a picture of his style, at least centrally speaking, he's like Sami Khedira in his pomp, the one that was allowed to get forward for Germany, but quicker.

I actually do like him as a player despite one or two antics of his, but I think another year with Leverkusen is best for his sake if I'm honest, but in turn, that could attract more suitors. So it's one of those situations really. He is the rough diamond that Rodgers and the scouts like so much.

Emre Can looks like it's done if Twitter is to be believed.

Just awaiting a photo of him leaning against the reception desk at Melwood.

as I said if Lucas gets sold for a similar fee then it makes perfect sense imo

Have we bought Southampton yet, or are we waiting for United to buy Bayern first?

Is the window open? Thought it was June for European transfers.

Might just be cheaper to amalgamate with the saints. Liverham, come on the meatboys. See the slogans write themselves. Maybe they could get a sponsorship with Dennys or Roscrea Rashers.

I remember seeing a show probably football focus and milner didn't have an agent, he let some fa department handle it, though that was many years ago, could be different now

    http://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/latest-news/162992-boss-kelly-will-get-his-chance-this-year

"Martin has been really unfortunate," Rodgers told Liverpoolfc.com. "He was out for a year, he came back this season and at the beginning of the season we put him into some games.

"But as the season wore on and we were concentrating on one game a week, it was very difficult for him to get games.

"He's a quality player and he's a good guy as well - he knows the club inside out. He's been around for a long time and the game against Shamrock Rovers was his first game for a number of months.

"He played at centre-half, as opposed to right-back, where he has played a lot. He's a good guy and there will be games next year for the likes of him to come and play in if we continue to qualify in the copmpetitions."

Signed 15 years ago today. Said it before but would love to see Sami back at the club.

I'd prefer the more aristocratic "Liverhampton".
Like our front line, it just oozes class!

The reserves can be called "Southpool".

I always preferred Henchoz. Great handball player he was. Maybe we could bring back both Sami for the defense and Stephane for Mignolet.

Liverham is far superior. The team could be called The meat and the fans could develop a chant of just 'We're going to pound ya!'

Imagine the headlines - The Meat pounded the Rams.
Rogers looks to enlarge his Meat with some dubious foreign acquisitions from the Uakraine.

Nigerian prince offers meat expansion with billion dollar hostile takeover. Just needs Rodgers bank details first.

Of course we need a lady to throw out sausages and puddings into the crowd maybe with a cannon.
Right that's enough football chat, back to Foucault and Bourdieu. The ****ing joys of it.

Will be interesting to see what happens at the academy level over the next few weeks. I suspect that we might even see an appointment to replace Borrell/McParlan as there is surely a bit of a gap in the coaching team since they left. As for players, I expect that the following players will be released. I believe the below players are out of contract and will be released.

    Sokolik
    Sama
    Ngoo
    Bijev
    Roddan

Jack Dunn's contract is down as expiring, although surely he will be offered a contract given his age and what he has shown.

With all the domestic leagues finishing up, it's also interesting to consider our Champions League group, seedings and co-efficients can be found here - http://kassiesa.home.xs4all.nl/bert/uefa/seedcl2014.html

    Dream group

    Porto
    Basle
    Liverpool
    BATE Borisov

    Group of death

    Real Madrid
    Borussia Dortmund
    Liverpool
    Monaco

    Some deadly options there alright!

    My preference:
    Atletico Madrid
    Juventus
    Liverpool
    Celtic
