Emre Can is the latest and newest name linked on the BBC.

We have one viable sub. Regardless of selling the guys mentioned above we need to add players.

    Who was that?

Well that depends on the starting 11

Well if everyone is fit and the same team starts as against Newcastle, then you might for instance have Coutinho, Lucas, Enrique and Sakho on the bench. Plus if you add some of the returning loan players you might have Borini, Wisdom, Ibe and Suso. Add 2 to 3 real quality signings and that is a good squad in my opinion.

Ill stand by it. We have one viable sub.

Lets take the Newcastle game / team. It's 1-1 we need a goal to win the league, what have we got on the bench?

    1. Coutinho

    • 01 Jones
    • 04 Kolo Touré
    • 09 Iago Aspas
    • 10 Coutinho
    • 17 Sakho
    • 20 Cissokho
    • 21 Lucas
Lets just take these guys. Arguably none will improve the first 11 (some will say Sakho fine)

How many times did BR use all 3 subs? That bench needs a major over hall. CL's next season - compare our subs with our competitors.. It doesn't add up.

I seen a stat we made the least amount of substitions in the league (89)

Still 2.3 subs on average per game so not a crazy stat

Add our loanee's coming back. Add 3 quality first team signings. I dont think we can expect any more than that. Enrique is coming back at LB also. We'll have options but we'll need players that can play in different positions. It will still be a small enough squad next season i would think.

We don't seem to be linked with m'vila anymore, replacing lucas with him would be a smart bit of business.
M'vila is hugely talented it's just his head isn't in it lately I imagine rodgers would get him motivated

Unless we are getting a superior upgrade on Lucas we should not let him go.

I'd like him to stay. Hadn't a great season but we are gonna need a good few extra midfielders next season as I'd be surprised if Gerrard played as many games next season for example as he has the world cup and he's not a young man anymore.

    Henderson is quality.
Allen good but not great would be my feelings.

Very short for backup. There's none for Gerrard really atm.

    Blame Suárez ‏@Blame_Suarez 36m
FFP is about as threatening as Iago Aspas' corners

A few papers linking the same players tonight, shaqiri and lovren the new ones.

I don't mind reading transfer speculation about all the players we have been linked with at all, but until it's widely reported as close by reputable sources I won't be believing any of them.

Also Liverpool not looking to sell Johnson but unlikely to offer him a new contract as well. Seems he will just run out the last year of his contract.

Here's Andy Hunters Guardian write up (though he is their Merseyside man I don't think he has any inside track)

    http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/may/16/liverpool-xherdan-shaqiri-ryan-bertrand-dejan-lovren

    So then

    Lovren or Caulker
    Lallana or Shaqiri (shurely)
Ryan Bertand (meh) or Alberto Moreno.
    Vorm

These are all last year's and January's rumours, aren't they?

Kono earlier. Lovren. Shaqiri. Bertrand. Next it will be M'vila, Williams and Mkhitaryan. Lallana is the only newish one and it's been running for a week.

My theory is that any British journalist identifying foreign targets that isn't quoting a foreign news source is perpetuating old rumours because they know nothing and our transfers will be big news this summer and therefore will sell papers.

I like Lucas but I'd have no problem seeing him moved on, he just doesn't offer much now that Gerrard has the DM position nailed down.

Allen needs competition for the cm slot and two FB's, one either side.

Then a striker/Attacking MF maybe both.

I'm not saying we need more than 3 but we need that to happen and they need to be top quality.

I'd like to see Lucas hanging around. Last season was a chance to show that he was an adaptive player and could be flexible in different formations. We seen that from the rest of the squad. We didn't get much of a chance to see that from Lucas.
We do know that he is adaptive, given the he was not a DM when he arrived here. But after his injuries, and being a bit older, I'm not sure if he's fit enough or mobile enough for the way we play now.
He would definitely be a player not to cut loose if we are flushing out the squad.

I'd expect at least £60m spending money without selling. There's no financial reason why we can't acquire both Lallana and Shaquiri. Or have I missed the joke?

Borini is safe, unless he's not safe

    From the offi
"With Fabio, it was just a case of we had Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez, who I felt were going to play a lot of games; we didn't have so many games with no European football. Luis is so robust, he plays every minute of every game and he's a world-class striker.

"So for Fabio's development - and nothing to do with not thinking he's a quality player, because I know him better than anyone - he needed to go out and get games to prove his worth. He's done that.

"He'll now come back a year later into our squad in the summer; you saw with his pace and his power and his ability to get a goal that he's going to add to the quality that we already have."

Bbc reporting that we're in for Lallana and louvren for 40 million.

    Good bit of business

    Seems a little steep.
