All this talk of left backs is great but a right back is just as urgent really, if johnson and enrique are the starrting full backs next year it will be a long season. I would bin both and hold into kelly/wisdom/flanno and buy two new full backs hopefully.

Hard to get rid of a player on what was it, £130K P/W wages? Sam owes us for stealing our prized assets of Carroll and Downing away from us, so hopefully West Ham might be interested, but other than that it's hard to see who else would genuinely be keen on signing him. Monaco if looking abroad?

I should have included Enrique as a possibility in a deal for Moreno or Rakatic. He'd probably wouldn't mind returning to Spain. Though Ultimate Team servers in Spain are dodgy which might be a stumbling block.

Wisdom, Flanno and Kelly I'd be alright with if we signed one of the LB's I mentioned.

    http://www.whoscored.com/Players/113275/Show/Alberto-Moreno

I should also add that I'd be happy with non-WWE Ricardo Rodriguez and Alex Sandro if Liverpool miss out either Moreno or Shaw. United should focus on signing Schmelzer.

At the end of the day depending on preference, you could have Southampton 4:3 Sevilla or Sevilla 4:3 Southampton ratio for those 7 positions. It is tight and not enough IMO to count as a hindrance when compared to Shaw, sure I could throw in Moreno plays in an inferior league to the mix against poorer opposition if I wanted.

Those stats you have there have Shaw ahead on almost everything, key passes per game almost double which I had presumed.

I'd be looking to buy him between 15-19m, anything more and you could go elsewhere. Shaw is worth around 25m IMO but because of the interest he'll end up costing whoever buys him 30 or more.

Liverpool need two fullbacks, a centre back, a DM and an attacking player IMO. You'd think sales will be fairly negligible unless Suarez is sold, Agger is 30 this year isn't he? 60 million for 4 starters and a good quality attacking player for rotation sounds unlikely, Rodgers would have to take 1 or 2 risks and hope they pay of but his transfer record has really been more miss than hit so far.

Mmm..I am not convinced that a few goals at Sunderland makes Boriini the level that we want, I think we should be aiming higher.

I dont think he's a good enough finisher in front of goal... seems to need a good few chances

You rounded the part where I clearly said "league" up to basically Real, Barca, Atleti and Seville, the other 16 teams say hello

Yup, 67 shots and 7 goals.....still think he would be an upgrade on Aspas and can do a job. Would be very interested in seeing how he would integrate up front. He may turn out to be a decent option up top when needed

This... this is a good one:
    http://phantomgoal.net/2014/05/bad-bottling-bellends/
Speaking of looking like right silly sausages, the Liverpool fans embarrassed themselves by so confidently claiming that they were going to win the league. You can’t make outlandish claims like that in a football chant. You can’t just say “we’re going to win the league” and not expect serious ramifications when such an outcome does not occur.
This fraudulence has led me to file a class-action lawsuit along with thousands of rival fans, for misrepresentation. We also contest that there is in fact not only one Brendan Rodgers (we found a few in the phone book), and we also reckon that you could get enough of Luis Suárez, if he locked you in a small cage and only fed you dung beatles and leaves. This fradulent behaviour cannot continue.

Football fans should not be allowed to support their team with tribalistic confidence or bravado; they should instead only sing songs that are factually accurate. Next season, we suggest the Liverpool fans sing,
“We can still win the league, we can still win the league. Mathematically speaking, mathematically speaking, mathematically speaking… we can still the league.”
That is, of course, unless there is no longer a mathematical chance of winning the league.

Always amazes me that people can say a player is worth say 15m for example but not worth 20m.

I can understand if there's a big gap but a few million I always find amusing!

With the way how our Season has Panned Out, I think Rodgers has Earned more than enough to have a Carte Blanche on our Transfers.

Sure, we may get Player X for a Few Millions less than Player Y. But if Rodgers himself doesn't rate Player X like Aspas or Alberto, then what's the use of Saving Up those Millions? Exactly.

So I don't actually mind Paying-over-the-Odds for a Player, so long as that Player is what Rodgers want. So if he wants Lallana for 25M or Moreno for 20M, well... images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTS6Srk9L2alUeqFMGZR04BRe7qqaZQx0e_trhpOY0rtFrZYZ9N

Up until Christmas, Schneiderlin was the player I most wanted from Southampton. He might be behind Lallana and Shaw now, but not by much at all.

Think Lucas pre injury, and I honestly think he could have that impact for us.

Said the same myself. He's a bit of an unsung hero in that Soton team and would be a brilliant signing. He'd get a lot of playing time too I reckon.

Real,Barca & Atletico haven't won there last 7 games between them.Bilbao will be in the CL next year & Valencia made it to the Europa Semi's & are only 10th in La Liga.Betis made it to the Last 16 & were relegated.

Sociedad also have a lot of talented played and would easily push for top 4 in the prem. more people believing the whole sky best league in the world bull.

I remember recently posting an off the cuff remark about Rodgers and his management of egos in the dressing room being his greatest accolade. Bit of evidence to support that perhaps.... Does it give the ability to sign and calm more volatile but brilliant players?

"I love it here and this mentality I like because maybe in some other dressing rooms I am bigger than you and another bigger, it's difficult for the team-mates to play together on the pitch in something like that."

    Here the fuller quote
"I signed the contract because I love it here and I'm so happy here. If you're not happy here you don't sign any contract," he said.

"Liverpool's team for me is one of the best in the world because nobody here in the dressing room thinks I am better than another and the people here inside Melwood work very well.

"I love it here and this mentality I like because maybe in some other dressing rooms I am bigger than you and another bigger, it's difficult for the team-mates to play together on the pitch in something like that."

Its a smoke screen of course, we all know he had a phone down his shirt when he was "crying" after the Stoke Palace game

Anyone else notice that in all of Suarez's interviews recently he mentions the staff a lot? He really underlines the fact that he loves the staff at Melwood. It stood out for me when I heard him mentioning it again yesterday.

Why were they smashed to bits in a fairly mediocre Champions League group this year then?

Rodgers collecting Suarez Football Writers Association player of the year award....

"When I came into Liverpool as manager, Jamie Carragher and Steven Gerrard said to me this was the best player that they had played with," he said.

"I thought about those two and all the great players they've played with in their career, so I was really interested to see what his play was like close up.

"For me, he has challenged me every day of my life, he's done everything that you would need to do at the top level of the game as a player.

"He is a winner, his determination is unique, he is absolutely relentless. He is someone that trains every single day of his life - he doesn't look for an excuse.

"And what people don't see is that he is a very intelligent man. He is a winner when he crosses the line, but with great intelligence.

"For a young manager like myself coming into a club like Liverpool, I understand the pressures of the club and those pressures include everything that involves managing top players.

"I know for however long I am at Liverpool, whenever I leave I will have become a better manager and a better person because of Luis Suarez and for that I thank him so much."

Isn't that a sort of dig at Real Madrid? He's saying in other dressing rooms players think they are better than each other.

It's an increase of 33% in fairness. If it was my money I wouldn't be throwing £5m extra away if I didn't need to.

I think we're all being a little harsh on Enrique here.

I share the opinion that we need to sign a left-back, becasue we only have one senior left back and he spent almost all last season injured.

However, he is still, imo, a very good player and would be an asset to the squad even if we did sign a new full back. He is very solid defensively imo, good at holding onto the ball, and occasionally picks out a peach of a pass to set up a scoring chance.

He is not without his faults (mostly in the final third imo) but lets not disparage him just because he was out injured last season, it's not like he wanted to be.

If he can stay fit and regain the fairly decent form he's shown overall for Liverpool, the new left back will have a battle on his hands imo. Enrique could well be preferred to what will likely be a more attack-minded pacy left-back for tough European games for example.

Jesus that's a fairly mental stat, and an emphatic statement for the quality of La Liga over other European leagues right now

Impossible to argue against, overall, La Liga being the strongest league (although of course mid and lower table teams in England would probably be overall stronger than their Spanish counterparts due to much bigger budgets)

And also, imo, the EPL is far more exciting

I like Enrique, but I think he needs to be moved on. I really don't like the injuries he gets. Seems he can't play more than 6 games in a row without his knee going from him.

So, we have a player who I would be happy as a starting left back, but we can't rely on to play 30 games, and he's on 70k a week. Not signing a LB (and RB for that matter) would be criminal.

If, and hopefully when, we do sign one, it should be a young player who is as good if not better than Enrique, and has plenty of potential, such as Shaw or Moreno. Still not convinced we go into that price range, however.

Behind that, we have Flanno, who is cheap, a local lad, and gives his all. He's also getting better too and I see no reason why he can't be a backup fullback next season. Some might even say its harsh to drop him.

So, providing we do get that fullback, where does that leave our injury prone, 70k a week, FIFA playing full back?

I don't see him surviving the cut, to be honest.

In fairness, I'm counting the Sevilla Benfica match as a draw after 90 mins. So not really as impressive. Kinda.

50 million for Shaw and Moreno is crazy IMO

50 million on Lallana and Moreno is not far off

And at least two more starters would be needed
