We can do a lot better than Borini.

    Such as?

We can do a lot better than Borini.

It's a very fine line...anyone better than Borini will expect to play regularly, but with Suarez and Sturridge that just won't happen.

    Exactly!

Borini is absolutely perfect for what we need.

We can do a lot better than Borini.

It also has to be someone who is willing to sit on the bench a lot. A striker a lot better than Borini will be expecting to play every week.

Ideally you want a player who doesn't expect to start every game but is still good enough to chip in with some goals when called upon.

I heard a whisper from someone who is not an itk but has come through with some bits and pieces before and he reckons there is some significant movements in the pipeline.

    're Suarez?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,095 ✭✭✭MonkeyTennis

Borini stays. Id also keep Suso.

Lucas is a fantastic holding mid, dont ask him to play any other position and you wont be disappointed.

Of todays players Id hold onto Ibe, Tex and Brad.

Nice to see Kelly with a grin too. Food for thought

Pffffffft! Daily Budgie Cage Liner. Lallana isn't going to go to an EL club when his stock is at its peak. He knows (I imagine) that he has one big move in his career and this is it. Remember Gylfi Siggardddssonnn, where is he now? Where is that ex Bundesliga guy? Fulham? Lewis Holtby - that's the fella.

That is absolutely retarded. A bad buy to be sure, but he's certainly no Jovanovic or Poulsen. Hasn't done anything to deserve derision, apart from a bad corner (and what the fuck were others doing letting him take it anyway - Gerrard and Coutinho in particular).

This type of anti-support just bugs me.

That's if they keep their form. Borini isn't clinical enough to get the goals we need if
a)we continue the policy of shipping too many at the back.
    b)Suarez or Sturridge lose form.
We could do with a third striker instead of Borini and Aspas, but in saying that, lots of other positions are in need more repair ie the whole back line

He has offered absolutely nothing this season or will he offer anything. He's not good enough. The video is a laugh, I find it funny, you don't. Get a grip with the anti-support and retard shouts.

Didn't say anyone was a retard, said the video was retarded. But actually, looking at the account, it seems to be a ManU fan, which makes sense (not saying anything bad about him, just that it makes more sense for someone to go to the trouble of putting together a video like this against their opponent rather than someone on the team they support).

For Aspas himself, he was given very few chances. Yup, he's probably not quite up to the standard we found ourselves at this year, but did nothing to deserve this kind of things from his own supporters. If blame were to be given to anyone it should obviously be aimed at the people who bought him.

And for the video itself, maybe it's me getting older or something, but it's just the usual unintelligent, loud "things flashing" rubbish which crops up all too often these days. Nothing creative or unique about it.

If we can find some way of convincing Aspas every game is a friendly he'll win the Ballon d'Or despite only existing for half the year.

And I'll stand to win €700.

I'd like for Aspas and Alberto to get a chance to prove themselves but its most likely not going to happen next season.

Ideally you'd like every player in the club to get a chance to prove themselves but it just doesn't work out like that.

Apologies for not meeting the standards of how to be a Liverpool fan as set out in the handbook. If you have a spare copy on PDF could you send it to me please?

Humour is subjective, I found it funny, you didn't. Probably Because you are getting old and also more intelligent than me. :)

There might be more people with that view, but I've not seen anybody else have the opinion that Aspas looks to have more about him than Borini.

No need to get upset because someone says they don't find your 4chan humor funny.

I just shocked someone went to the trouble of making that video.

Who is getting upset and what is 4chan? I was trying to make a joke with Rebel.

People are right to slate Aspas for that corner against Chelsea but he should have never been even on our bench let alone taking that corner.

All season we've had really poor options from the bench.

We won't get away with that next season.

If Aspas, Alberto, Borini and others who have been mentioned could be sold off, if they aren't on mega wages (first two below 30-40g a week) then maybe hang on to them for League Cup/FA Cup.

I'd keep Borini, loan Alberto out. But I don't think Rodgers rates Alberto so he could be gone also.

    No.

Just in case you are being serious.

Found this very interesting, said id post it in a few of the relevant soccer threads, see what ye think.

This is the table of Premier League's top scorers (top 15):
    1. Suarez - 31
    2. Sturridge - 21
    3. Toure - 20
    4. Rooney - 17
    4. Aguero - 17
    6. Bony - 16
    6. Dzeko - 16
    6. Giroud - 16
    9. Lukaku - 15
    9. Rodriguez - 15
    11. Hazard - 14
    11. Remy - 14
    13. Gerrard - 13
    13. Lambert - 13
    14. Van Persie -12

Now, when you look at how many of these player's goals were actually game-changing goals (a goal scored when behind, an equaliser or a goal scored to go 1 up) you see a very different table. Percentage of goals scored that were game changing is in brackets.

    1. Sturridge - 13 (62%)
    2. Bony - 12 (75%)
    3. Rooney - 11 (65%)
    3. Giroud - 11 (69%)
    3. Remy - 11 (78%)
    6. Aguero - 10 (59%)
    6. Hazard - 10 (71%)
    6. Lukaku - 10 (66%)
    6. Gerrard - 10 (77%)
    6. Van Persie - 10 (83%)
    11. Dzeko - 9 (58%)
    11. Suarez - 9 (29%)
    11. Rodriguez - 9 (60%)
    14. Toure - 6 (30%)
    15. Lambert - 5 (38%)

So Sturridge scored the most important goals, followed by Bony.

Amazingly 10 players scored more important goals than the Player of the Year Luis Suarez, and 13 players scored more important goals than Yaya Toure.

83% of the time Van Persie scored was an important goal, itd make you wonder what if he'd been fit all season.

Itd also make you wonder was Suarez worth his Player of the Year award?
