    Rakitic or Lallana?

    Edit: why not both :pac:

I'd say Gerrard, like most professional footballers, would be fairly immune to abuse at this stage. Particularly, light hearted banter like this.

The whole goal was probably to just wind a few Liverpool fans up and obviously its worked.

Light hearted banter is spending money on 2 planes to fly over Liverpool games with a banner?

    United fans are fcuking clowns.

I think if we can get Rakitic for 20 million then he would be the better option. I fancy him to go on and be a really top class player wherever he ends up.

I just hope at no point that any LFC fan flies a banner over Anfield or OT during a LFC match. Just don't sink to their level.

If I have to Choose, I'd rather have Lallana.

As much as I love Rakitic, Lallana can play in a Ton of Positions. Which is an Incredible Asset.

Specially to a Team like ours, that loves Changing its Formation. We can Slot him wherever that's needed, without Losing any of our Potency.

But Rakitic would be Good too, since he can ably fill Gerrard's Current Position as well as playing along side of him.

Yeah, would be Great, if we can go for both.

An expensive Wednesday evening, but good to see some of the youth players. You know you're digging deep into the squad when you add up the squad numbers of 3 players and it comes to 166
Ibe was exciting to watch, but needs to work on his end product, Dunne's goal was taken very well.

    Vintage air message gag. 6.5/10.

Ah, maybe 7. Yeah, that would scrape it to a 7th.

Joe Allen and Fabio Borini are brothers!

How did Borini do overall lads?

Too tired to post much tonight, but was at the game and he did quite well. He's sharp, was still hustling back and winning the ball of defenders, link up play was excellent, and he took his goal really well.

Wasn't expecting a huge performance after a long season, but himself, Allen and Ibe were the best players on the pitch by a mile.

Teixeira impressed me a lot too.

    Neil Jones ‏@neiljonesecho 12m
Brendan Rodgers spoke glowingly about Jordon Ibe after the game here. Said he can go on to be an "outstanding" player at #LFC.

    Neil Jones ‏@neiljonesecho 11m
Rodgers on Ibe: “He's got running power, pace, and he has a lovely touch on the ball. He just needs to work on his finishing!" #LFC

why were they all applauding after 71 minutes?

The lads in the corner started a "stand up for the 96" chant. Classy touch!

Also one of the rare moments in the match where the atmosphere got going. Was still a nice day out. Rodgers is a man with something very special about him...the way he carries himself is just .. I dunno...it feels like I would follow him to the end of the earth...inspiring presence.

The biggest cheer of the night was for Rodgers, and secondly for Borini. Going by the body language of Rodgers and Fabio, he's going nowhere and will be one of our strikers next year.

Great youth on show today too. Ibe as expected was great. Borini showed great flashes of skill but was wrecked tired...its great to see him wanting to play after only playing for Sunderland on sunday...thats a hint of desire and ambition if ever I saw it.

If there is one other thing I learned today its that Aspas is pure made for the league of Ireland :P

Also that left back, Smith....very impressive movement!

I'm somewhat torn on both, but I'd probably opt for Rakitic purely based on having seen him more. He's always had a touch of class about him going back to his Schalke days. Rakatic and Moreno to Liverpool would be perfect. Aspas, Alberto and maybe Assaidi could be part of a deal ideally.

I do really like Lallana though and could see him fitting in seamlessly as well, but I do feel we'd be overpaying by 5-10M due to the English player tax which is perhaps the one real deal breaker for me. Knowing us and how transfers drag out is another concern.

Let them have their fun , It will be the only European flight they'll have for the next year and a half .

Any team outside the top 6 should be banging Rodgers door down looking for Ibe on loan for next year. Part of me would love to see him get PL experience and play regularly but then part thinks how much he would benefit from being coached by Rodger et al for the same period

It's astounding how just one solitary season of disappointment can see them become so small time in their mindset and actions.

    Loan him to Everton

If it makes you feel better as a United fan I can easily admit that I enjoy seeing Liverpool suffer.

Everyone of you also loved seeing United suffer this season; Let's not pretend that we're bigger than each other.

Oh yeah look at Liverpool suffering with their 2nd place finish and CL next season.

How did McLaughlin play. I have high hopes for him. I think a full season in the Championship would do him good.

Not great, to be honest. But, like yourself, I did like what I saw previously.

Plenty of time on his side.

Only see the first 30 mins, Ibe looked the stand out player by a mile, how did the rest of the game go? Kelly in particular?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,656 ✭✭✭El Inho

rodgers looked to really push mcloughlin from the get go...he was hanging back from attacks and rodgers was shouting at him to get forward....which to me shows he is a little uncomfortable with whats being asked of him, but yeah, youth on his side!

Kelly was good...I didn't realise just how big the lad is! bloody hell!

Thats strange regarding McLaughlin as he is usual quite good going forward and needs little encouragement to do so

Its the Kubler-Ross model (extended to football fans) for some of them. I would say most are midway between stage 2 and 3, anger and bargaining. A few in my local are well into the nether regions of stage 4 depression.

It will turn at some point but for now its great craic so just join in on the fun i say.

Watching the Europa game - can we have Garay as our new CB? Pace, size, able to do the ugly stuff. Him and Sakho could be legendary stuff...
