    Off topic but..

How do people think Rodgers will adopt tactically to the CL.

Essentially the group games will be pretty similar to approaching a PL game.

But if we were to get out of the group, the philosophy would have to change when away goals etc. come into play.

Rodgers doesn't have a whole of experience to date of approaching games over two legs. Rafa was a master at it.

P.S It feels great to be talking about the CL again.

    Re: Alberto and Aspas
Alberto was definitely off the pace, but in terms of positioning and intelligence he has the qualities to fit in. If he could get used to the pace of the game a bit better he could certainly be retained as a useful squad player.

Aspas showed a decent amount of promise in the first few games when Suarez was banned. I've always felt if he had gotten a goal or two his season would have been a lot better. There were a few occasions where Sturridge could have put it on a plate for him but didn't.
He still wouldn't have gotten a major amount of playing time, but he could have been used more if he got that wee confidence boost early on.

For me, Aspas was signed for the squad we thought we needed to challenge for the CL. When it turned out we were quite a bit better than that it became apparent he wasn't up to that standard.

Hold on there... CL is a nice bonus next season but we can't hope to challenge for it. Not yet. So enjoy the 6 games ...lots of fun....

    BUT

Make sure we cement that top 4 position, show that this season wasn't a flash in the pan

Short notice I know! But does anyone want or know anyone looking for tickets for the game tonight?

Something's come up and I can't make it. I'm in the city centre so it's no hassle to meet someone to pass them along.

Meaningless rumours of Mascherano being linked for 9m.

I'd definitely be happy to see him come back, even though I wasn't happy with his departure tactics when he left.

Too good a dm to ignore, would have a big impact on the goals conceded column for sure. Not sure how he'd work in tandem with Gerrard, but he's an asset to any team.

How much has he played as a DM though since his move to Barca?
Any time I've seen him he's been playing at the back alongside Pique/Puyol with Busquets taking the DM role.

Are these figure in the Daily Express right? Liverpool earned 97m this season with CL money still to come?

    Sorry if covered already.

    Are Shamrock Rovers any good?

Athlone at home on Saturday is more important.

Yes, officially released by the PL.

Nice increase of £40m on the balance sheet plus the extra commercial deals. A successful season on and off the pitch it seems

Don't watch much Spanish football to be honest, overcommited with Liverpool & River Plate already, the mrs won't allow another league in my life!

Plays for the Arg team in DM. hasn't forgotten much by the look of his performances for them. He'll play there in front of a back 4 with one more forward looking midfielder behind and attacking quartet. Not a million miles away from some of the Liverpool formations we've seen this year.

My biggest concern about Masch would be that he has not played the DM role much at all in the last 3 years, could be rusty and I think he's the sort of signing that would be expected to slot right in, when in fact it might take him quite a while to get used to playing that role full time again.

Terrible that this was even asked ffs- It's not a great league but it's still ours. I'm not a die hard but would pop along to see Limerick here and there and keep up with results and news etc. If half as many EPL fans in this country popped along to their local team now and again it would give these clubs a nice financial boost---- But the standard is sh*t is the usual retort--- Yeah, it's not great in the lower leagues in England either but they still get behind their local team-

I think this tactical approach can sometimes backfire look at Chelsea the nil nil they got in Madrid was supposedly a great result but it left them with having to win the game to get through where a score draw would see them out. A Madrid tried to win every game and they are in the final.

Said it before that keepers kit would be a fantastic 3rd shirt in it's own right

I'm sure you feel strongly about this and that's perfectly fine but no need to get so wound up

People have the right to support who they like. You'll never force/guilt someone into supporting a team that they have no interest in

That's fair enough- But that's the point- Irish people have an interest in a foreign league largely through the spectrum of tv, yet would close the curtains if their local team were playing in their back yard- Tis bizarre... Anyway, I fall foul of it myself at times, rant over.

It's a two way street, there are obviously a lot of football fans in Ireland. It might be useful for the league and the clubs to ask themselves why they don't watch Irish football. There is obviously something putting people off, quality aside.

So we should support a foreign sport here instead, the gaa will be so happy to hear you say that ;)

FFS I'm taking grief off a Utd supporter over this article

Like what a fookin troll, he's calling Gerrard self obsessed when anyone who knows him knows he is as humble as they come. Pure and utter garbage, don't soil your eyes, it was written purely to get a rise out of us.
