No offence to ya kryogen, but without even reading it yet, Roy Curtis has always been a plank. A plank I stopped reading when I was 14.

I agree, he is a plank, it doesnt take away from the fact that he makes some valid points in it.

His only really valid, non sensationalist point, was that Toure had a better season than Gerrard. There's so much crap dripping from the article, however, its hard to anything seriously.

Reading it properly this time; He might make some valid points with regards to other players not getting the credit they deserve in comparison to Gerrard (and I'm twisting his words a little here to help his cause), but I wouldn't be so quick to negate the impact he had for this team since January. He was fantastic.

Still go back to my point about how there's so much crap, its hard to actually take anything he says as being worthwhile or valid.

Jesus are you serious? You dont have to be a Gerrard/Liverpool fan but its blatantly an article full of hyperbole and utter nonsense.

Where was the control when he keeled over like a bullet-ridden Bambi against Chelsea? - you think this guy makes valid points?

I can only conclude your on a wind up, which I hope for your sake is the case, as that article is horrific.

So you class this as hyperbole?

'Second-best in England this season? He wasn’t even remotely close to being second best at his own club.'

You conclude I am on a wind up, while refuting that Yaya Toure has been a better player then Gerrard this season?

Its not controversial to say Toure has been better. Its the norm. Roy Curtis, however, is certainly on a wind up. But then again, he has been for over a decade now.

The comments on that attack piece are worse than youtube level bs.

Jesus, just noticed the Headline: Why Stevie G is most self-obsessed footballer of his generation

We're giving this **** far too much exposure just by talking about it.

kryogen has certainly succeeded in his aim anyway!

No offence, but it wasnt you who said I am on the wind up and there were no valid points in the piece at all. Your position hasnt changed

Neither has mine of course, Curtis is a tool, but there are some interesting at least, points in the article, I would call them valid. Liverpool fans by and large will naturally disagree, nature of the beast. Awful journos can make good points now and then and good journos can spout ****e

The title is funny alright :)

The title of the article is ridiculous I agree, but the only reason it's there is to draw attention, positive or negative. That's the Sunday World in a nutshell.
However some of the points he makes are valid ones, regardless of how you may view the headline or how you may view the journalist.

When did I say that? Yaya Toure is absolutely world class - thats not exactly a revelation is it?

Are you seriously telling me you posted that article to say that Toure had a better season than Gerrard? Your obviously on a wind up as is the author or you actually think this is a well written article?

Nothing to do with who the subject is, you can tell after a few lines its just a terribly written article. If thats they type of journalism you like than fair enough.

I don't think any sane person can refute this. Toure was immense this season.

But to suggest that Gerrard wasn't the in the top 4 performers at Liverpool is a bit much. He was consistently in the top 4 performers for the club all season.

He wasn't the only one who collapsed against Palace, that was naive in the extreme from the entire squad (players and management).

Also and if Curtis was any kind of journalist he would have realised that this season was in fact the first time Gerrard had been involved in a title race, so the comparisons with Keane and Viera on leadership are not as valid (both had been in title races BEFORE they were captains).

Gerrard wasn't the second best player in the League.

But I don't see how him being voted as the second best player can be turned into an attack against Gerrard. Hardly his fault.

What are the valid points then?

Mad Men's Don Draper : What you call love was invented by guys like me, to sell nylons.

Well I disagree with you on that point. He had an amazing season for Liverpool.

Yes it is out and out hyperbole. Gerrard being voted second best by THE FOOTBALL WRITERS ASSOCIATION makes him self obsessed?

Ive given this far too much attention for the drivel it is.

    Enjoy.

lol kryogen. What exactly are you hoping to achieve here? Gerrard wasn't the second best player in the league this year. But he was in the top 20 alright. Plus, including a couple of valid points is kind of irrelevant when its amongst a steaming pile of turd written in an adolescent over earnest fashion.

I do find it amusing how irked some people are by the fact that Gerrard had a decent season and received plaudits above and beyond the level of his performance. That said, I was equally irked at Gigg's lolworthy player of the year award so these things go both ways as always.

Curtis is the lowest of low when it comes to Journalism he is a Roy Keane fanboy thinks he some type of Eamonn Dunphy wannabe and he is even worse again when writing about the G.A.A

He knows his target audience with gutter articles like that and he tends to reach them

I had someone describe it to me as one of the best articles they have ever read, my head nearly exploded

He would be nothing more than a hack journalist, and I use the term journalist very loosely in this case.

Curtis is certainly not worth getting annoyed over. It is not as though anyone reads a Sunday World article thinking it is anything more than a very dumbed down version of the original dumbed down red tops.

That was a joke too, lost all credibility after that

Not hoping to achieve anything really, expected the article to be either ignored or ridiculed. Same as most of the things Mike drops off in the United thread.

    Slow morning in work

Downing made the most accurate crosses - wonder if he's available!

Stewart Downing the most accurate crosser!?

Strange how Utd fans were gloating here on Sunday about second being nowhere and then making a big deal about Gerrard getting second best player of the season.

Stewart Downing the most accurate crosser!?

And stick Andy Caroll on the end of them.

    What could go wrong.
