How much would ye reckon Lamela would go for after his poor/dreadful season for Spurs?
Would they be silly enough to part with him for a low price and cut losses?

Spurs signed him for ~25 m i think?

We should offer them £10m for him.

The guy has got talent. Maybe with Brendan coaching him he could come good in the PL.

He was injured for quite a bit though wasn't he?

A serious question if anyone has the time to respond?

How has the Gerrard transition gone generally? I've watched every game this season, albeit on a crappy stream, and it's impressive offensively, undeniably so, but LFC are still a soft underbelly sort of team.

I've seen plenty of posts saying Gerrard has done as well as Lucas defensively but offered more to initiate offensive play. I'm not sure I'd agree with the first part.

Also re Sakho, I was definitely expecting more dominance from him to be honest given kess' posts here before he'd signed. Aerially he's been good too, but I'm flabbergasted to see criticism of his passing. That has been top notch I've felt - in particular his passing into the inside left channel, and into the further midfield receiver has been very accurate and effective.
I think a new LB, a pre-season together, and a good bit of collective defensive coaching for set-pieces and Sakho will really prove his worth next season - especially in europe.

It's a strange one, but tomorrow will be my first ever LFC game!

Not much, but it's something! Can't wait...wonder just how second string the team will be...I'm not expecting any world cup players and would have expected Jones to be the only familiar face save for aspas

Skrtel, Agger, Coutinho and Lucas should be there I'd say.

Spurs will send him back to Italy before ever considering selling him to us.

Just home from Liverpool today, great weekend , cant imagine what the place would have been like if we won the league. I have never seen the city that mad before. Managed to meet Flanagan last night, nice lad. Also heard a rumour from a mate whos a season ticket holder that Atletico Madrid want Lucas for 10million and are willing to send Villa the other way. Great deal if true imo!!! Now to catch up on some much needed sleep.

Maybe, but this is the club who spunked a lot of money last summer, sacked AVB and replaced him with Tim Sherwood, and then sacked him also.....never a better time to negotiate with them

As a third choice striker to make an impact from the bench it might not be a bad option.Definite upgrade on current options.

Would be an interesting option as 3rd choice forward alright though - no better man to nick a goal. Still has a 1 in 2 strike rate, and still only 32. I'd actually be pretty happy with the 4 strikers being Suarez, Sturridge, Borini and Villa.

If you have the possession and need to nick a goal, Villa goes on. If you need to wrestle some control back, or to relieve some pressure, on goes Borini.

I suggested Michu earlier and I thought that would be a punt!

Brad Smith called up to the England U21s European U21 Championship qualifier and in the Toulon

Medel and Caulker for under 10m would be incredible business. 20m for Lallana, 15m on Konyplanka, Ashley Cole on a free. That gives us 15m to spend on a right back. All them along with our players returning from loan would give us an exceptionally strong squad.

This management stuff is easy :)

Doubt we will be signing Lallana and Konyplanka, don't think there is a need for both.

Lallana and a Striker/WF (Remy or similar) would sort out our attack IMO.

Remy would be a very good addition.

    That's a pity!!

The more I think about it, the more I convince myself that Ashley Cole would be a super super signing!!

There is a story from one of the papers http://www.irishexaminer.com/sport/soccer/whelan-reds-facing-long-wait-268399.html with Ronnie Whelan talking about Liverpool's chances of winning the league and in it he says,

“Liverpool are still playing catch-up on all the top teams, the Citys and the Chelseas. It is going to take years to get the players in and build the team because we have fallen behind over the last ten years, more and more."

“There’s a lot of building still to be done and I don’t think it can be done in a year.”

Now, I always liked Whelan when he played for us but I don't think his comments really help us that much. He may have a point but does he have to be a negative neddy? Jeez Ronnie, we finished 2nd place and played some breathtaking football, scoring goals galore. How about some praise or a pat on the back at least?

Maybe I'm still all glowy from LFC's achievements this season and haven't fully started thinking about next year yet, but I think it's bad enough that opposing fans and otherwise will happily tell us that we'll never win the Premier League. We don't need one of our own former players telling us the same thing!

There's just something about that story, makes me disappointed with Ronnie Whelan. What do the rest of ye think?
