Costa off to chelsea by by the looks, need to get our deals done early.

They are saying Chelsea have triggered the release clause is all . He could still end up elsewhere because they are reporting June as the time for him to be bought . A lot can change in 4 weeks .

Not happy about Lallana for £20m. I know he's better than Charlie Adam, but still, £20m for a guy who only came to prominence this season, at the age of 26? That's a mental amount of money if you ask me. Fine (maaaaaaaaaaybe) if you're Man City who can spunk money around all over the place, that's gotta be about 50% of our budget though?

If Lallana was playing in Spain or Italy or France there wouldn't be half as much opposition to his signing for 20M. People's attitudes are seriously out of whack

I'm wary of any player who has only had one top season. It was one of the reasons I was wary of Aspas and was ultimately proven right.

Lallana has had two seasons at the top level, one decent and one good. He doesn't justify the supposed outlay imo.

If he had put in the same level of performance as Rakitic in the Premier League then I'd be all for him.

It's nothing to do with the fact he's English - it's that at 26 I'm not sure he's any better than Coutinho, Sterling or Henderson in the positions they currently occupy - CM, AM or AML/R, all of whom are younger and will hopefully progress even more.

For a good 40% of our supposed budget I would hope for something a bit more special.

He would improve the squad if signed for sure, but I'm not sure if he's a really special player, and that's nothing to do with him being English - his record this year is good but not exceptional imo

I'm fairly confident that if we sign Lallana for 20m we will have a lot more than 60m to spend.

Maybe the Lallana gossip is being used so we can lower the Kono price.

Will stop Mourinho moaning for a while I hope. Will be interesting to see how he gets on under the spotlight of the British media. Makes Suarez look like a choir boy.

I doubt the price will change from the £15m(?) originally agreed in January.

Apparently slipped on his way to the podium to collect it so Pellegrini nipped in there to claim it.

Isco would represent much better value than Lallana.

Isco would be amazing. No way Madrid would contemplate selling him though.

Coates made the Uruguay World Cup squad somehow. Thought he was still injured.

Hes on loan at national back in Uruguay, has played 5-6 games with them already afaik. Was a starter with them before he came to us wasn't he?

Also makes Suarez for more than £50m i.e. 50% more than Costa pretty unlikely.

Actually heard a group of lads singing this in The Crown last night. Thought it was pretty pathetic myself.

Suarez for 50 million or less doesn't exist. There is no such thing. That's not enough money to even have a conversation about Suarez.

Yeah, and he was first choice for Uruguay at one stage too, but the loan was really just to let him back home to recuperate. I didn't know he was fit again so was surprised to see him included.

20 million for Lallana and any other English player whose price is driven up simply cos they are English - always looks worse as there is usually 2-3 players on the continent that are usually technically better and a snip of the price. David Silva always stands out to me from the past in that regard.

Henderson was the guts of 20m. There was some moaning about his price even at the start of this season.

    Worth every penny imo

You actually think that we won't get more than that for Suarez? You're forgetting that Costa's buyout clause is significantly lower than Suarez's. That's before you even begin to consider his form and returns over the past 3 seasons.

    No that's not allowed.

Having the crack is not allowed.

    Don't do it again, alright?

    Daniel Taylor @DTguardian
Barclays Premier League manager of the year award (not to be confused with LMA one) is: Tony Pulis

Took him a hell of a long time to come of age but he has been superb this season for sure. That said, for the initial 20 million and the time it took him to establish himself ... money could have been better spent. Just shows you never know with some players.

A lot of the reason that happens has to do with clubs in England under less pressure to sell, they get a fairer share of money. Whereas in Spain for example, clubs do have to sell to make ends meet. Atletico this season is somewhat of an anomaly, they have a 100m tax debt not being chased and wages are 90% of turnover.

Don't think anyone is saying he would be a bad signing.

But that there are better players available for £25m.
