It's hard to judge when a team is constantly under the cosh like that. Remember how good Phil Jones looked at Blackburn?
But if you look at his year at Swansea and Spurs, he has the minerals.

And if the rumours that he can go for half of the £8M they paid if they were to be relegated are true, then it's well worth a punt. Would allow us to send Ilori on loan again perhaps, or sell Skrtel?

    Or a Toure replacement

Of the relegated teams who would you take?

I reckon Stockdale or Marshall as GK alternatives. Leroy Fer in midfield

    Norwich: Ruddy, Fer
    Fulham: Stockdale, Dembele
    Cardiff: Marshall, Caulker

Some lad on twitter @GraemeKelly1claiming Lucas is staying.
    Alberto, Enrique, Reina going.

    On phone, can't linkylinky

I both hate and love the transfer window speculation

Also claims interest in a player in Germany but won't say who ( typical ITK stuff really)

Fer, Marshall and Caulker could all add some nice depth, I feel. Money could perhaps be spent better elsewhere in the case of Caulker, though.

We have Wisdom and Ilori, along with Skrtel, who can play the RCB role.

Also, the only Dembele I would want plays with Spurs. No virtually nothing about the youngster with Fulham.

They may be able to play in that position but i would question as to whether they can play well enough in that position

I doubt Marshall will move to be a back-up keeper. He may fill a gap left if the likes of Krul or Vorm moves on elsewhere.

All depends on our loan strategy for next season. We definately need more depth, and more quality for CL, but we shouldn't put too many players in the way of our kids - Flanagan, Sterling, and Wisdom last year showed that they can only thrive if given the games...

    Yup.

I'm of the same Opinion. I really do think Lucas will be Gone in the Summer.

Unless Rodgers has Plans to make him SG's Backup DM. But we're probably better off, getting a Younger Player that can play as Backup DM as well as CM.

I guess it's all down down to our Transfer Budget, or if we get a Good Offer for Lucas.

Gerrard is no DM, he positions himself in that position, but he's nowhere near the DM that Lucas is. Gerrard is a quarterback type midfielder.

The fact that Lucas was forced further forward with Henderson out meant we did not see Lucas in his best position and claims of his demise might be premature.

Lucas confirmed that himself about 15 minutes after he posted "goodbye" he clarified he was talking about the season.

Toure was signed as an experienced older player to provide a role model and direction for younger players.

He will still be around next year.

That was a brilliant season, love how the United Heads are calling us chokers, and are forgetting about Arsenal who were top for most of the season, and Chelsea who were in a much stronger position than us with 5 games to go.

For the first time in years I looked forward to watching the way we played. Winning the league would have been the icing on the cake, but even without the icing that cake tastes pretty good. The improvement we've had this season will never be repeated. Fix up the defence, get a first choice holding midfielder, a few squad players, bring back Borini and we will be challenging again next season.

People seem to think that we have to replace everyone instead of thinking we need more options and better cover for more games next season.

For example, I think we need an improvement on Skrtel as his defending is suspect but I wouldn't sell him as he can still contribute to games and there would be injuries.

People need to think past the first 11.

Would anyone else love to see us sign ashley cole on a 2/3year contract? Seems like no one wants him anymore but he definitely has a couple more good seasons left in him and he is an experienced winner, would definitely add to the squad

Gerrard, Sturridge, Johnson, Henderson & Sterling in the WC squad.
    John Flanagan on reserve list.

Well done to Sterling, he would have been nowhere near that squad before December. He is going to be an outstanding player, he is only 19 and is leagues ahead of dross like young and lennon.
I'm tipping him to be one of the standout young players at the world cup.

None of the above will be in Dublin on Weds so I guess?
    No Suarez, Mignolet either....
Skrtel, Agger, Allen, Lucas and Coutinho should be involved I guess??

I take his wages would be a problem. He was on big money at Chelsea, don't see him dropping his demands too much wherever he goes. He's a twat and one of the reasons I don't like Chelsea but in terms of what he could add I would take him.

Yeah hopefully. Will be interesting to see if Gerrard, Henderson, Sterling and Lallana play together!

Wishing Sterling, Hendo, Gerrard and Sturridge the best. Don't think Johnson should be going.

Hope they don't come back broken up.

I don't think he'll be a standout player because I think England are on the first place home after 2 beatings by Italy and Uruguay.

I think you're overestimating both Italy and Uruguay. Italy generally seem to get the job done into the latter stages of these tournaments but they never look particularly good while doing so.
Uruguay have been pretty terrible since they won the Copa America.

    It's a group that's wide open.

If Italy play like they did in 2010 then England may make it out of the group. You never know these days what you will get with Italy. However no match fixing scandal over there tis year, doesn't bode well like pre 2006 and pre Euro 2012 :p

Am hearing via a strong and rpeutable Twitter source (amiable) that we are in for Cameroon youth player Pa Nda, pretty underwhelmed to be honest but one to add to the stock of youth players

I'm sure he'd want a large wage but I think he'd be well worth it for a couple years. Id happily find a new home for Johnson and give Cole 100k a week for two seasons. He would add a lot of much needed leadership and experience to our defence, not to mention actually being able to defend! I'm sure the likes of Flanagan and wisdom could learn a lot from him as well. 10m for fees and wages and we get a quality full back for two years

    so it looks like:

    lallana, mf
    alberto moreno, lb
caulker or williams or marcos rojo, cb
cristian benavente or konolyanka or tello, wideman

then possibly micah richards at rb and a front man (maybe Remy or rodrigo at benfica or muller at munich but no strong links there)

vorm as back-up keeper and we're done

Personally I would have given Flanagan the nod over Johnson .

Some decent players listed there BUT could we not have attracted them even without the Champions League? I'm hoping we can attract the types of players Madrid, Barca, City and Juve attract. I know they have more pulling power due to our policy of keeping wages down but we need to be signing, or at least chasing, players like Muller, Shaqiri, Javi Martinez, Alonso, Isco and so on
