    Which role?

Well he obviously won't play the DM role he had before injuries barring an injury to our captain.
Before he signed he was a box to box midfielder who, ironically, would have been perfect for us.

I think Lucas may have looked better if he'd returned in his usual position, but Stevie had stolen it from him. I think that cost us with Hendo being out, they were starting with Allen and not all quite in their perfect positions.

I think Lucas' time may have passed. Not dominating enough to protect a patchy defence, and contributes very little in attack. If he was someone else's player, we wouldn't buy him!

    Yup.

I'm of the same Opinion. I really do think Lucas will be Gone in the Summer.

Unless Rodgers has Plans to make him SG's Backup DM. But we're probably better off, getting a Younger Player that can play as Backup DM as well as CM.

I guess it's all down down to our Transfer Budget, or if we get a Good Offer for Lucas.

3 points clear with 3 games to go.

    I'd consider that blowing it.

Not when the team who won it had 4 games to play

People need to calm the **** down a tad.

We need to bolster our squad numbers quite significantly this summer, getting rid of people like Lucas/Agger would be madness imo.

Particularly with Agger, despite people protesting otherwise, the chap is still our best defender by some considerable distance.

Clarified the Goodbye, meant only for the season
    Lucas Leiva ‏@LucasLeiva87 28m
O tchau foi referente a temporada que terminou nada mais .
The goodbye that I said it is about the season that finished nothing else.

Well it should be a concern if Liverpool are going to spend 20 million plus on a player that can only run for 80 minutes!

    You really believe this?

I think the real Reason why Lallana is being Subbed, is because they also have another Talented AM in Gaston Ramirez.

Gaston usually replaces either Lallana or Jay.

i agree with agger but i dont think lucas is near good enough. i wil be dissapointed if we dont sign a new holding midfielder

    I really like Lallana...

But if we're going to Pay 25M+ for him, why not try for Isco?

If we did manage to get Isco, which I think is very unlikely, he'd cost a lot more than Lallana.

Will be Good to have another Spaniard again in Liverpool. :D

If we signed Delph, we could use him only in the big games as a super sub and wait for a clever commentator to say "Liverpool are breaking out the good Delph".

I agree on keeping Agger, although dunno if being our best defender is even good enough anymore. But not Lucas - if he isn't good enough to start in his preferred position, which he's not, then I see little point in keeping him.

Bring in a starting CM with some defensive chops, considering that this will be Stevie's last year as a starting player...

He'd be a brilliant signing. Don't see it happening though.

Feeling pretty sickened this morning tbh....would love to be sitting here with a joyous hangover but instead I'm mulling over what if's.

The wheels came off a bit at the very end....our lack of strength in depth began to show in the last month...seeing the likes of Moses and Aspas coming on to try and turn things around shows just how much we've over-achieved this season.

Suarez and Sturridge looked pretty burnt out at the end as well imho...would be nice to have had a Negredo, Dzeko etc raring to go on the bench.

The defence is another kettle of fish altogether - not sure if it's a psychological or personnel issue really. Rodgers needs to treat this as a priority over the summer.

Anyway, hopefully FSG have taken note and are willing to make the necessary investment

Southampton press much harder than we do, wouldn't be worried about Lallana tiring.

I'm not comfortable with the club spending big sums on English players. 20 million wont get you much these days but I think its too much for Lallana. This is a guy who 3 years ago was playing in League One.
While I do think he shouldn't be compared to someone as limited as downing, I think we should be aiming higher. I would prefer Konoplyanka over Lallana if I'm honest.

I'm also concerned by the fact his team had a good season and now he is hot property. No one was interested in him last year.

5 years ago Seamus coleman was playing was for Sligo Rovers. Would this put you off spending 20M on him now? Player values are based on current market and performance. Lallana has improved massively.

If Real are signing Ivan Rakitić then Alonso might just be the "extra man" they no longer really need. Champions League....just sayin' ;)

Isco.....no chance unless its as part of deal for Suarez.

Unless we were to get a really good offer for Lucas, I don't understand why we'd sell him.

We've been talking about bolstering the midfield for the last 2 windows.

Its fairly obvious that his legs have gone at this stage, much as i don't want to admit it.

He is a pale shadow of the player he was before the injuries took their toll on him.

He simply is not able to cover ground quickly enough to influence the game any more.

The difference that Henderson makes, who is not as able, defensively, is rather telling.

He could be a smashing player for us, particularly in cup games. Good on and off the bowl, he'd ware the red jersey with pride. We could dish out some real beatings as long as he didn't get crockery-ed

    :( It's gonna be a long summer

Non Germans in Der Bundesliga who are going to be wanted by someone and who's curent contracts are not that long

    Josip Drmic (Striker)
    Shinji Okazaki (Striker)
    Xherdan Shaqiri (Midfield)
    Anthony Modeste (Striker)
    Jefferson Farfán (Right wing)
    Ricardo Rodriguez (defender left back)

You can remove Josip Drmic from that list, Leverkusen just announced his transfer.

Is Caulker any good? Can't say I saw enough of Cardiff this year to judge. I know he pops up with a few goals from set-pieces at the other end alright.

It's hard to judge when a team is constantly under the cosh like that. Remember how good Phil Jones looked at Blackburn?
But if you look at his year at Swansea and Spurs, he has the minerals.

And if the rumours that he can go for half of the £8M they paid if they were to be relegated are true, then it's well worth a punt. Would allow us to send Ilori on loan again perhaps, or sell Skrtel?
