I know I'm still harping on about the Bayern match, but the build up just before it was brilliant. I doubt much of it was caught on camera, if any.

They played commentary from past encounters with Bayern over the PA system and mixed it in with an instrumental that I know but can't remember.

The hair on my neck genuinely stood up when I heard the commentary for the Sheringham goal. The Solskjaer goal received a cheer as well, which was pretty cool.

Then there was the card-holding to create the design.

They should do it more often. It only really works with night games.

The last game that I can remember which featured the crowd holding up cards was the Barca match in '08. Have there been any since?

I think it creates a great atmosphere before the game. One that the team can feed off of. Also, it serves as a kick up the arse for the crowd and gets them in the mood to start cheering.

Metallica - Ecstacy of Gold I think it was. It was amazing best atmosphere I've experienced in the flesh since vs AC Milan 2007 semi final at old trafford

SSN now reporting it,I doubt a bruised toe would keep him out of the Bayern game.

Depends how serious it is, a bruise to the bone can have you out for months.

I can only imagine the meltdown on twitter about it, 300k a week and he's out with a bruise etc...

    Van Persie out!

    Rooney out!

Maybe Kagawa has a chance to make the bench now!

What is this media embargo on the Rooney injury about?

It's just the standard embargo on stories to allow the papers to go to print.

The way they ve worded the statement on Rooneys injury suggests its total bollóx to justify leaving him out tomorrow. Id be shocked if a bruised toe kept our ''future captain'' out of our biggest game of the season

    ...
Sir Alex Ferguson ruled Rooney out of the second leg of United's Champions League quarter-final against Bayern in 2010 after he suffered an ankle injury in the first leg.

The former Everton striker then made an incredible recovery to start the second leg at Old Trafford, but was still unable to to prevent United going out of the competition on away goals.

Good omen followed by a bad one! :o

He has really gone on strike, Kew suggested this Moyes read boards.ie thought it was a good idea.
    30,000 or something.

Just dock it off Rooneys wages. Say its tax or something. Sure he wont notice

    :p

Real Madrid game last season? Incredible atmosphere. One or two of the players said it was the best atmosphere they had ever witnessed in Old Trafford.

Of the knee would be understandable but surely not one toe? He'll be grand. Besides I'd be more worried if it was Welbeck tbh. Both are crucial to have any chance on wednesday.

I think he will make a recovery for Bayern somehow;)

    would not worry. yet.

Standard issue excuse to rest top player before important game tactic.

    Ha ha that's reminded me.

I'm pretty sure it was Ennio Morricone's original version. I had goosebumps when I heard it.

Of course not, they are terrible! But it softens the blow a bit if I do put a small cover bet on them
