Just saw I'm among the top 10 post count users on boards. ****ing hell, over 44 thousand posts of hate and pessimistim. That takes some doing. The hate is strong with me

You joined 5 years before me, so in 5 years, you accumulated 42k more posts than I have in my entire career. That's terrifying.

Wonder what kind of team will start against Newcastle?

Will the likes of Rooney be risked and could we be see Nani make an appearance?

we should consider bringing zaha, powell and ando back from loan
if we beat bayern then we should be wrapping the first 11/12/13 in cotton wool

It's taken me 15 years to hit 10k so might have 40k by the time I'm 60.

Yeah, if we did manage to get through, we couldn't be risking the likes of Rooney, DeGea, Carrick.

We can't recall any of them from loan as far as I know.

    I heard this too.

Always wanted to know this but is there a fee for loanees? Or is it just the club taking the player pays the players wages whilst also blooding the player in a first team environment.

I heard rumours that the Romelu Lukaka loan cost Everton £6M which I find amazing if true. Then again Chelsea bought the player for £10M and he has essentially been on loan for 2 of the 3 years he has been with them so maybe the fee is just to cover his wages?

Just found out that I won't be able to watch the Bayern game because I'll be working and in a meeting. :(

All depends on the clubs, and the players involved.

I would say there is basically no fee (maybe wages) paid by lower league clubs when loaning a youth players. When you have more established players, loan fees (and paying part/all of the wages) wouldn't be uncommon. I think Hulk, for example, was being shopped around last summer for loan, for 10million!

The Hulk and Little Pea would be an interesting partnership.
Little Pea looks like he will leave this summer.
Hard to blame him, and he will be a loss to the United squad.
They should be securing 7/8m for him.

hard to know what team will face Newcastle....maybe somewhere along the lines of...

    De Gea

    Jones
    vidic
    evans
    evra

    Januzaj
    Cleverly
    Carrick
    Kagawa

    Mata

    Wazza/chico

Is the league over for Utd, i.e. is it only pride to play for now and if so, shouldn't Utd field a reserve side against Newcastle?

    You'll be sick that day.

You still have time. Start throwing in a few coughs today. Towards the end of the day, mention how your throat is feeling rough and be seen to be drinking a lot of water. Come Monday, blow your nose loudly and cough dramatically. Clear your throat a few times and then, on Tuesday, call in sick.

    It's all about the groundwork!

I don't think we can afford to consciously allow the league form/performances/results to be any worse than they have been already. There is pride, reputation and a sign that United can get back to where they 'belong' to play for.

I do think there will be some rotation this weekend, but it will remain a strong team (as much as we can play).

unless Buttner is injured he should be playing every game between now and May

Some key players will be rested due to injuries and having no back-ups in those positions. Vidic, Rio, Carrick, Buttner and Jones won't play.

I expect we'll still see De Gea, Rooney, Rafael, Fellaini, Mata and maybe even Kagawa.

Rafael missed the game during the week with injury, so could be held back (if fit) to ensure he is available vs Bayern. Partly as a result of that I can't see Jones, Rio and Vidic all being rested.

Also, as I said above, I can't see too many being rested/protected - Moyes can't afford more poor results really, not when the result can be blamed on him picking the wrong 11.

Fellaini instead of Carrick. Carrick could benefit from a rest. Jones might be a better option than Fellaini in CM against Bayern if he's not needed in defence.

Rafael might be available for RB against Toon, might be good to give his some game time before Bayern.

Vidic might be best off rested.

Kagawa will likely benefit more from playing against Newcastle than resting, as he has had lots of rest already!

David de Gea also might be worth resting, purely to avoid risk of injury; he's our MVP! Wazza maybe rested too, purely to avoid injury.

I agree with Mitch. I can see Moyes fielding a strong 11 not because he thinks we still can do anything in the league, but because he'll feel he can't afford to lose more games between now and summer. As it stands, while some will say they don't care about 7th or 8th, we're already way adrift of other teams in the league, and he won't want to be even further back when he's arguing to keep his job.

We've already lost once to Newcastle, so he won't want another "Lose both times we played them" stat. He'll likely not want to lose momentum heading over to Germany either.

I wasn't posting at the time but could someone enlighten me as to the general feeling on the board towards De Gea in is 'difficult' start?

I used to lurk a bit on Red Cafe and there were plenty who wanted shot of him...they look pretty stooopid now

Looking at it....a weak team losing to Newcastle, a loss to Bayern midweek and then Everton next weekend....

He really can't afford to give major rests to anyone over this week. A bad result to Everton (and given our inability to win against "top" teams, you've got to presume that's likely), and the pressure will be back on him mighty quick.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 15,111 ✭✭✭✭RasTa

    We might see Nani starting.

Hernandez up top, Clev, Young, Mata.

Not sure if we can rest anyone in defence

Quite a few wanted shot of him at the start but most people here knew we had an excellent keeper on our hands but needed work

    was mixed.

Some (myself included) were massively behind him - predicting he would become one of the very best in the world if given time and not messed about.

Others (Sean....) felt he cost us the league and should have been replaced with Shay Given.

I think most people basically supported him and felt he would come good. He was certainly the subject of a lot of discussion though.

Very surprised that Reina is going to be picked for the WC squad ahead of him.

    Casillas too.

If they bring 3 keepers, surely he'll be picked now that Valdes is out injured.
