played luttrelstown on 23/03 and the green were forked and very sandy.
don't know when exactly the work was done though.

Castleknock was scheduled for 23/34th of March, but I haven't been out there this week so not 100% sure, maybe Pcasso and Oilbeefhooked! can confirm this.

Just spoke to a mate of mine who is a green keeper in Carlow. They were supposed to do them a month ago but because of the weather they couldn't do them. They are doing them Monday but not too severely. They are not taking the large core out only a small bit and sanding. Hopefully they will be good when you play it Charlie. Super course a real classic.

Playing woodenbridge tomorrow and maccreddin on sat,got a call yesterday to say maccreddin pole forking the greens Friday .what a bummer we have it booked since January .

Woodenbridge was done very recently too. Played there on Sunday and the greens were cat.

Have to pay €40 before the end of this weekend for a game there next week.

Two weeks+ should be long enough for them to be very playable, though it depends on the type of tines used and also the amount of wet stuff and hot/warm stuff we get between now and then.

played their during the week......greens are no way near back to normal...was like putting on the moon....but course was in top shape

Any greens poleforked lately will be slow to recover. Heat is essential for growth and we dont have enough of that at the moment. The more growth, the quicker the recovery. It makes more sense to polefork in late april and mid september. Lots of courses polefork in october which is way too late for growth IMO.

"Agronomically" it makes sense on those dates, from a business trying to attract greenfess it makes no sense however!

That depends on whether the business is trying to attract green fees or trying to retain membership. If they're poleforked in late April and September, then they recover pretty much in 14 days as opposed to 4/5 weeks when done too early/later during times of less growth.

So you lose 4 weeks green fees - big deal. Green fees make up a very small percentage of a golf club's income compared to members subs

Typically members are clued in enough to realise that putting (har har!) up with rough greens for a few weeks at the very beginning and very end of the season is worth it to not have to stump up the lost revenue for lack of green fees during the more peak times of the year.

I played there wednesday and they are definitely on the way back. A big improvement on what they were a week ago and going by that exponential, they should be well on their way back to normal by next week
