    Yeah, because of Rooney's brilliance.

    If you like.

In my opinion, because the ball bounced short of the line first, if the keeper had just quickly backpedaled he may have got a hand to it before it bounced. Perhaps he wouldn't, but I think he could have had he not tried to turn around and run instead.

Thats why I would consider Suarez and Beckhams better, they both went straight in.

I wonder would Uniteds best ever 11 of the modern era still not be as good as the bayern team we will face in April, I guess to match them we would have to play a central 3,This is the team Id go with, what ye reckon would this take the current bayern team?

    Schmeichcel

    Neville
    Stam
    Vidic
    Irwin---

    Scholes
    Keane
    Robson

    Ronaldo
    VanNistelrooy
    Giggs--

Who are you going for manager? Moyes or Fergie?

Just looking at that defence alone is incredible

I logged in just to say ... I think that United side is definitely stronger than Bayern's, but if course I am imagining them all at their very peak. Throw a few variables in there to make it more even, Keane at the end of his career and Neville in his 30's would make it a more exciting game. Ronaldo, Scholes, Giggs and Van Nistelroy all on their best form is a scary prospect, and Vidic and Stam at the back would be a force. And we all love Dennis!

Edit: forgot about Robson. Fuc.k what a team

A number of outlets running with those stories alright. Hopefully we get our rumoured, and needed, 4/5 signings done before the WC and then announce that we've concluded our transfer business.

Least we'd avoid price hikes because of the WC and stupid paper talk for July and August. Would be a sign that Ed and Moyes learned something from last summer.

Moyes will go on a beach holiday for the first two weeks of the transfer window, Ed will travel to Australia to tie up some sponsorship deals. We'll bid €10m less than other teams on transfers that are already sewn up. Redcafe will melt down.

They might have looked better but Rooney's was a much tougher effort to be fair. Much easier to judge distance and be that accurate with a ball on the ground.

Apart from the major superstar signings we all want i would be happy with a bid for Vertonghen this summer. Good player who can cover left back. Can also step into midfield with the ball too.

Lallana is also the type of player I would have if we sold the likes of either Ashley Young, Valencia, or Kagawa. Otherwise its hard to justify buying him.

Other than those two I could imagine a bid for Coleman and maybe Shaw which would be fantastic but expensive and difficult to get.

I can only tolerate David Moyes keeping his job if he does major surgery on the squad this Summer. Otherwise it'll be the same story next year.

I am not sure United really need squad signings (other than at full back), selling Kagawa for example would be mental if the intention was to bring in a player who could only be a squad player at best. I would prefer to see players that provide continuity stay while seeing likes of Powell or Michael Keane move into the first team.

I hope moyes picks the same team for the city and bayern games. Both will need to be able to soak up pressure and try to counter at speed. The league doesn't matter now so at least he can use the city game to try and plan a way to steal something improbable against bayern

Am I the only one who thinks Rooneys goal wasnt all that, like not on his part which was incredible bit off skill, but like where the **** was the goalie off to, he should easily have got there. I actually have Tettleys goal as better

Will Moyes have the courage to try and steal anything against City?

He knows that most people seem to be expecting defeat and to that lose 1-0 or 2-0 won't affect his position too much. A trouncing on the other hand, 4-0 or 5-0, will see a further backlash from the wider public.

For all that the league no longer matters I can't see him doing anything adventurous or experimental. He will want it tight and defensive to avoid any humiliation.

He looks quality alright. Serious money being touted about his asking price though

huge fee but he does look quality and could be LB solved for next 10+ years.

Moreno from Sevilla has looked good the few times I have seen him and would be probably half the price.Unproven in the league and will most likely have good offers from within Spain.
    Atletico LB has also impressed.

Great team. Would have Rio at his peak beside Stam. You would need one centre half who is very comfortable on the ball and I think Rio would be ideal with Stam

We can't go out and play the same team and tactics we did yesterday against Bayern

Simply because it isn't refined at all, there's a better chance of us packing the midfield and having Welbeck and Valencia as the out ball to try nick a goal.

Will 6th place get Europa league this year? With a squad our size it could be needed to keep giving players game time, very hard to keep everyone happy with just the domestic competitions

And that right there is my biggest problem with Moyes; his own expectations. I agree with you, it's likely he'll go in wanting to limit the loss as opposed to pushing for the win.

I think I'd nearly prefer to get trounced 6-3 and show a bit of desire and fight, than lose 2-0 and look like we went in knowing we'd lose :(

It also is a big problem that when goes goes for a "Not lose" mentality, we tend to lose big :(

You'd have thought that 50+ games away to top 4 opposition without a win while at Everton and United might have taught him something, but probably not

He's now using it in home games

    Sorry, shouldn't have been condescending.

Steve Orizovic 1996 was another one.

    Go to 4.15

A keeper punting the ball long is different to an outfield player having a go from range tho

I think Pat Jennings scored from his hands also. These are flukes as opposed to Beckham, Rooney, Alonso etc

I fancy that United team to beat that Bayern team, ballack even in his prime wouldnt get into the current Bayern team

Even though or need at left back is greater I think I would prefer if we signed Coleman, both would be great signings

Instead of the 4-2-3-1 formation , do ye guys not think 4-3-3 is a better system?

Next season I wouldn't mind if RVP was sold and we had a front 3 of Rooney Mata and Kagawa all interchanging with each other , behind them we would need Fellaini and 2 world class central midfielder's to be signed, with Carrick Cleverley and Fletcher either benched or sold

To play a system like this we would probably need 2 world class pacey wing backs, I'm not Rafaels biggest fan and I would love us to sign Coleman but we have greater needs elsewhere in defence such as a new centre back and a new left back but I'd worry if we don't go in for Coleman this year someone else will

So lads here's what I'm hoping we start the new season with

    Dea Gea

    Coleman---Jones/Evans/Smalling
    New World Class CB
    Shaw

    Fellaini
    Kroos
    Calvalho

    Mata
    Rooney
    Kagawa

Would ye be happy with this?
