Think it will be similar to the Arsenal games. Yee will come out fast but need to capitalize like we didnt. The longer the game goes their quality will show through and they will pick yee apart. Then probably take the foot off the gas in the second leg and stroll through.

PP has us at 5/1 to win the home leg

    5/1!!!

To put it into context that is same price Ireland were to beat Germany in the 6-1 defeat.

Well worth a punt at that price. I can see it being slashed to near 7/2 dare I say come kick off. Even if United score the first goal, cash out option is there and with PP, there is no doubt it'll be be a MBS Special game which will hopefully be Bayern to Win and get your money back.

Or go with bet365 who give normally the same/better odds, and better cash out options, and not give your money to that shower ;)

I have little doubt that he will go with a defensive line up, this is a guy that gets nervous playing the likes of Stoke and West Brom after all.

In this case however it would be the right decision, we are too deficient in midfield to even pretend at breaking even there. I can see Carrick and Felliani in front of the defence, Valencia and Young both starting wide, and then both Wellbeck and Rooney dropping back to fill space and make tackles. Van Persie will cut a forlorn figure on his own up front.
Yeah, I'd be pretty confident he'll stack midfield and try and stifle the game. In saying that though it will be no different to Fergies tactics in Europe for the last number of years against the big teams.

I could see United getting something out of the Home leg at least, I really don't think they'll get a drubbing.

Edit: Just to clarify, I still think Bayern will win by a healthy margin.

United are 5/1 at home for a reason. We create practically nothing, we can't keep the ball, and we switch off defensively all the time. Munich on the other hand create a chance every other minute, they keep the ball better than anyone else, and are absolutely ruthless in defence.

I've seen some odd optimism from some United fans, but I don't see it myself. I am beyond the point of hoping that the players suddenly raise their game out of nowhere. It's depressing, but I see nothing other than a humbling defeat, in both legs. Have people forgotten the Liverpool game already? Bayern will do far more damage. Of course I'll watch the games, support the team, and pray for a miracle. But I would not put any money on it.

Moyes 'just happy to be in the QF'.

    Very poor attitude.

After losing the first leg 2-0, of course he is.

I can see it now. "Pep Guardiola resigns after 'disgrace to football' Manchester United play for a bore draw in both legs and win on Penalties"

What team would people play for the first leg? I would choose something along the lines of:

    De Gea
    Rafael--Jones--Vidic--Evans
    ---Carrick-Kagawa-Fellani---
    -Rooney
    Welbeck-
    Van Persie

With Evra being suspended you simply cannot put buttner into the team to play against robben. Evans I think is the best option. He wont be bombing forward but that is fine for a game like bayern. If RVP was still out Id stick rooney up top and stick in valencia on the right. Kagawa would be in front Carrick and Fellani but not so far that hes behind the striker. Need someone like him in CM thats able to hold onto the ball. Rooney and Welbeck are both capable of putting in a defensive shift as well as preforming their attacking duties.

    I'd go:

    Lindegaard

    Smalling-Ferdinand-Vidic-Buttner

    Valencia-Carrick-Cleverley-Young

    Welbeck-Hernandez

I really fear the worst and think all the seasons shortcomings will show up in these games. Sorry for the negativity

I don't think there is a chance that we will see Moyes try to attack Bayern at home. For once its not because he is a defensive manager but realistically our best chance is the away goal rule. The real key to this tie is ensuring that Bayern score 1 goal or less at OT. That way the tie is still alive in the second leg and away goals count double. If we can keep it tight at the back you have to fancy Utd to score a goal over 180 mins of football and if that is in Munich even better.

With that team I wouldn't totally rule out our hopes but it won't be that. Valencia and Giggs over Kagawa and Fellaini. Should start the team he plans on playing against City imo and see how it goes there, hopefully be an eye opener.

Because Evra was going to shut Robben down?

    Yeah? Self imposed or?

I found PP to be the worst bookies to ever deal with. Frequently built up large amounts via their poker app, and then getting my sportsbook up on bets and there was always some rubbish to delay me making a withdrawl.

Bet365 is all instant for me, regardless of the amount.

I'm all for optimism, but it can slide into utter delusion sometimes.

This isn't like the other night where we thought the Greeks might hold onto a 2-0 lead. This isn't like Liverpool where we thought maybe the rivalry would ignite the players. This isn't Sunderland where we only needed to win 2-0.

This is Bayern Munich. This is a firing squad, and by God is Moyes blindfolded and smoking his cigarette. It's not pessimism. Bayern are going to murder us.

This. Some of the delusion here is ridiculous and the sort of craic we'd have laughed at Liverpool fans for in bygone years.

It's Bayern Munich. Them of the 0 league defeats since 2012. A team that put 7 past Barcelona not a year ago. A team that scored 5 goals in 19 minutes 2 weeks back. A team who bossed City and Arsenal around their own grounds this year already.

Jesus, we only beat Olympiakos and the delusion brigade is out saying we'll keep it close. No we ****ing wont, we hung on at the end at home to a side approximately as good as Celtic like it was Barcelona 2008. Buttner will be marking Robben in one leg and the respite will be Evra marking him in Munich even though Evra struggled with his man's pace on wednesday. They'll have 70% + possession over the course of the tie, we'll be seeing the likes of Kroos, Robben, Ribery, Gotze and Muller bearing down on us all night both games, Rooney will be chasing shadows all night, RVP won't get 10 touches between two legs and we'll be made a ****ing holy show of.

There'll be at least 6 clear goals in this, take it to the bank.

If United play as they have this season against Munich they are going to get destroyed. They will need to park the bus and hope for the best. Attacking or attempting to attack this Munich side would be foolish in the extreme.

Took them to the cleaners in NBA betting for the first third of the season. Been limited to 50 quid bets since February and they seemingly refuse to reply to me now when I query them on it, so I haven't used them in awhile which is a bit of a shame since odds are better than a few places and they have more markets that appeal to me. They're renowned for doing this anyway.

Paddy's can be frustrating odds wise, but they keep offering me free bets for some bizarre reason, so I can't complain too much at present + the American books here are garbage for in play and that's where I make money.

Betvictor is a decent book I've always found btw, get some very good odds. Worth looking into.

Anyway, play Shinji at the CAM behind Rooney or RVP and you'll win comfortably.

What is with this all encompassing fear of Bayern Munich? Has nobody ever beaten them? Should we all just stop playing the competition and give them the trophy?

Sure United will struggle and they will struggle against any of the other seven, but come on.

Jones did very well man marking Ronaldo last year. He could be used in a similar role on Robben to help Buttner out or on Ribery.

The best thing Kagawa can do for us in this tie is head over to the Bayern hotel and surprise them with a special gift, a serving of Fugu.

Whatever about United's chances in this fixture, I hope to fuck the players don't step out on the pitch with this attitude.

Manchester United ‏@ManUtd 3m BREAKING: Following further investigation, Robin van Persie has a sprained knee, which will keep him out for around four to six weeks. #mufc

We've got pumped this year by Chelsea, City and Liverpool and beaten at home by Everton, Newcastle and West Brom. Considering Bayern are light years ahead of the first three, we ****ing should be terrified of them.

He might be back in time to put six past Bayern in the second leg so.
