Whoever we get, we are going to have to play 3 midfielders in every game. Rooney is going to have to play deeper than ever. Id personally like this formation, getting the central 3 to press at every oppourtunity

    Dea Gea

    Rafael
    Vidic/Rio
    Jones
    Evra

    fellaini
    Rooney
    Cleverley

    Nani
    RVP
    welbeck

No doubt we are going to need 3 in midfield. Don't see Nani could possibly start. Not due back for another week or two so won't be up an running by then. Don't see what Cleverly offers. Also think Jones has looked suspect, assuming Evans is back, he would slot in for me.

I would personally go for below, it does lack a bit of pace but Kagawa should help control the tempo. Never going to happen tho:

    Dea Gea

    Rafael
    Vidic
    Evans
    Evra

    Fellaini
    Kagawa
    Carrick

    Welbeck
    Rooney

    RVP

vidic is a no no for me anymore....not fast enough and doesnt have the same positional sense as rio.... jones or smalling must start with evans if he is fit. cleverly should be no where near starting 11 anymore proved it time and time again not good enough.

Vidic is a level above every other defender we have. My only reason for not playing him would be because he is leaving.

i dont think he (vidic) is the same player any more since his cruciate.... i think johnny evans is a top player and the sooner he back the better.

was just looking at the 8 teams that qualified for the last 8 last night... is it the first time in champ league history that all the teams that topped their group got through to last 8?? also getting to the last 8 guarantees man utd at least another 6-8m in revenue....

also, not that man utd need it, but any potential transfer target in the summer looking at the final 8 and seeing man utd still there can only be a good thing no matter what happens in the last 8 games. that comeback last night would have gone all over european newspapers as another classic man utd comeback....

Imagine if Chelsea decided that they were not playing Drogba when he was leaving.

Vidic is still an important player, a brilliant defender and is still captain, for me he should continue to play.

He should play if the only options are him and Rio.

He should not be captain; how can the rest of the team be expected to follow a leader who has already signed a contract with another club?

In fairness, the other option for captain is someone who leads by not putting in a proper shift on the pitch.

Vidic is still our best CB. Smalling Jones and Evans should be rotated together for all the PL games as we have nothing to play for. In the CL, everything is to play for and we have to start our best 11, we cannot get hung up on principals. Jones, Smalling and Evans (to a much lesser extent) would be ripped apart.

Is Rooney not an obvious choice. He would be well able to **** a player out of it if he wasn't pulling his weight.

Would the cost of sacking Moyes potentially be £30m considering he has 5 years left on a £6m a year deal?

Would imagine that there is clauses to cut him for cheaper if he fails to hit targets

He has lost lot of pace though and is very easily turned so if he plays it has to be with likes of Evans beside him to cover his possible exposure.

    Nah, United aren't Chelsea ;)

I'd be surprised if he did tbh. Most top clubs don't operate with clauses like that. Most likely he'd get paid as normal on his current contract until he finds a new job.

No but a contract is a contract!

Assuming there are no performance related clauses allowing United to terminate his contract, and he was sacked, he'd probably settle with them and have roughly half that paid out, allowing him take up another job.

Alternatively, he could go down the Roberto Di Matteo route, and continue to get paid as before, but preclude himself from taking another job. If he did opt for the latter, he wouldn't be paid off, but paid in instalments as per his salary over the length of the contract

I would be very surprised if there are no stipulations such as minimum requirements that would allow him to be sacked without having to be paid off so much.
If nothing else, the Glazers are very good business men.

While I agree that that would be logical, I can't think of another instance in football where that has been the case
