I'll tell you what, I wish I didn't know as much about knee injuries...but 4 operations will do that to you!

Ah sure you don't have to tell me about knee injuries - I squanklified my left knee off a door frame when I was 12 and cried for 6 hours. I also tripped in the school yard on old, jagged tarmac while running at speed, so I'm there with you brother on the knee injuries front!:pac:

Seriously though, hope the operations were a success!

what was not to be confident about?? that's why I don't think people rate welbeck enough, always causes problems when hes on the field, lightning fast. Giggs was always going to perform last night after all the garbage talk in newspapers.... was a great looking line up I even said it before the game... pace and width with rooney dropping back

Being brutally honest my heart totally sunk seeing that team not only in terms of going through but for the future of Moyes - (if we lost this place would have exploded and there was a real possibility the crowd might just have started to turn ever so slightly) - Moyes proved me wrong and i'm delighted about that - A great night for Moyes personally.

Hard to be confident when you have a 40 year old in midfield that hasn't been used regularly in quite some time and a center back in Rio that has been absolutely shambolic in the CL this season.

To be fair to Giggs he put in a good performance last night and it was great to see us playing some direct passes into RVP and Rooney to stretch their team rather than the anaemic sideways 5 yard passing to the wings that's been in operation all season.

You are 100% correct and I cannot wait to see that line up in our next European game! Its vital that Valencia remains fit for the rest of the season!

the line up perfectly suited last nights opposition...

now If we were drawn against any of the top 3 barca, real or Bayern we could have any team we liked out and we are going to get spanked.....

imagine bale, di maria and Ronaldo running at last nights defence :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Well, good news is we don't need to worry about them killing Evra.

Down side is Butner will be laughably exposed against any of them...

Just goes to show what the team could achieve with one or two decent central midfielders setting the tempo unlike the tortoise Carrick.

The injection of Wellbecks pace was badly needed ,there has been a huge lack of pace and runners in the team this season and even over the last few seasons.

The tempo of play last night was much faster ,like the Utd of old ,who always played their best football at a high tempo.

That first half was the most enjoyable Utd performance I have seen this season by a long way unlike the static ,low tempo garbage so prevalent this season.

He won't play Butner.... I imagine he will stick Raf out LB and put Smalling RB.

Nah I think you should throw on a jersey, having never missed a game I'm sure you could handle Madrid with your tactical guile.

Whoever is going to play LB should be getting the next few games in the position to prepare. Dealing with Nasri, Navas and Matt Jarvis is as good a practice for the European big boys as we are going to get.

Leaving Evra out is hardly going to cost us.

not if its giggs who starts lb come the champ league game. I cant see buttner starting as he is awful.... Evans could start there but he better suited to the centre. raf might push across with smalling/jones slotting in right back

Yeah it's not like the most expensive player in history will improve them or anything.

Id be very surprised if Buttner doesnt start in the first leg of the quarter final.
Id also be very surprised if Evra doesnt start most if not all games before then.

Wouldn't be suprised to see Evans at LB, but will depend on who's fit. Last night we had only 4 fully fit defenders. Smalling and Evans have been out with a few weeks now.

Suppose if everyone was fully fit he would go with Smalling, Evans, Vidic, Rafael.

The difference Giggs makes to the partnership of Roo and RvP is astonishing. Without an attacking-minded CM, Rooney has to drop deep to do that, and his partnership with RvP is non-existent. Just shows how much we're crying out for a ball playing attacking CM, someone like Cesc or Kroos.

Anyone think that Mata or Kagawa could do what Giggs did last night?
