To be honest I'm more excited about the climax to the soap opera that is the Moyes banner war than the prospect of watching another lifeless and disjointed performance from United. But sure, I'll be there watching out of loyalty nonetheless.

Whats the story about this - i.e. the Moyes banner?
Never understood why there was a banner hanging in the first place - just goes to show how blindly misguided and clueless some of Stretford End are.

Being honest, as much as I dislike Bambi, he'd be better than Valencia, possibly show more desire than RVP and would at least be some sort of danger going forward. Not much of one, granted, but I won't shudder if his inclusion comes ahead of Valencia's.

our 3rd highest scorer this season and one of our better performers when he plays..... game is made for him tonight I think. has the ability to go past players, will stretch their defence give kagawa(if he starts) room to operate. better than watching the statue that has been rvp last few games

Just from looking at the Stretford End Flags (who appear to be responsible for the banner) twitter feed, there is a huge backlash from a section of the support who want the banner removed.

SEF say that if the fans want to protest, they should do so by their own means, and that they will not be the 'starting gun' for a Moyes Out campaign, which is what the removal of the banner would look like.

In response, some (not sure how many) fans are threatening to pull down the banner, by force if necessary.

So is this banner going to be taken down mid game?

I'd say tonight's game will have massive viewership figures as Utd fans and other supporters tune in to see what happens next in this epic tale of misadventure.

As a Liverpool fan, I thought from the start that Moyes wasn't the right guy for the job - just not up to the level of managing a team like United. Seems that I've been proven right, but despite that, I'm genuinely sorry to see the slide as a strong competitive United is good for the league and the game.

He's lost the fans, even the die-hards it seems are losing faith, and from the performances, he has lost the dressing room too.

He needs to go, and he needs to go now so that any replacement will have the maximum time possible before the new season. Giving him £200m in the summer to squander would be disastrous IMO.

In fairness I thought United players showed lot of spirit on Sunday just tactically we were shambles.

    Some did, some didn't.

If I was a Utd fan I'd have been fuming with Van Persie on Sunday

So is this banner going to be taken down mid game?

Some people threatening to take it down by force, presumably if we're losing.

Would fear of fights or whatever, though probably nothing more than keyboard warriors talking big. Do think it should have been quietly taken down a few weeks ago; doesn't need to be the first shots fired, as they worry. Just unveil a new "Pro-team" banner. Cause for all their cries that they don't want it to be the symbolic shot for Moyes to go, they've turned it into the loaded gun themselves.

    I can see it now....

    Utd losing.
    90mins up.
    final whistle.

Moyes last few moments as manager and the banner coming down around him.

It should never have gone up in the first place - the flags and banner should only commemorate the club and club legends. Moyes had proven nothing - the flag should be taken down.

How many times in the last 15 years have we been to the QF of the CL? I would have thought that would be par for the course at the start of the season - i.e. Moyes expected objectives would be top 4 finish and get to the CL QFs and anything after such as a trophy is a bonus.

As I said - typical of a lot of the idiots in the Stret. Blindly supporting someone purely because Fergie told them to.

It'll be a sad sight to see fans being shown fighting over the banner.

I think taking it down would be the perfect way for the fans to show their discontent at the Moyes situation instead of booing or chants.
So is this banner going to be taken down mid game?

    Nope.
    Stretford End Flags ‏@SEF_MUFC 5h
Will not be considered and the banner will remain up tonight as a symbol of support for the team, as we expect from the fans vocal support.

Bit confused to the reason mind you, a banner about the manager is supporting the team? He has had enough support and given nothing worth while back.

Fair enough if we were turning over someone like PSG with a young team that were slowly emerging out of the doldrums but that is not the case. I wouldn't be getting in any way excited if we put overturn Olypmpiacos tonight - it'd be the same as overturning Sunderland, which we failed to do.

After the disastrous season we have had so far, with nothing left to play for in any other competition, you would not get excited by qualifying for the next round of the only tournament we have something to play for? The chances of us winning the whole thing are extremely slim, nevermind tonight. If we put in a performance, I will be excited for the next round.

The only thing I'll get excited about this season is seeing Moyes being handed his P45.

    probably nothing...
Why are Manchester United's directors, including Fergie, meeting eight hours before kick off? http://dailym.ai/1ih18rX pic.twitter.com/3TBFLWSF26
