The lengths you go to defend Moyes are incredible, Jan was one of our better performers today.

Martinez has his team playing better football and in a much more difficult PL climate are ahead of United.

Moyes got Everton into the CL. Let's see Martinez do that.

Look. I don't think it has or will work out for Moyes at Utd but that's not to say he can't manage. He did great with Everton for years on a shoestring and that pretty much proves his competency.

But no-one wanted him at Man Utd. Not the fans and certainly not the players. Everyone just went along with it because it was Fergie's choice andvthey believed in it from that regard rsther than having some kind if unshakeable faith in moyes.

They won't play for him, they never would. There's a justified self-image or ego that Utd has as one of the world's biggest clubs. Rooney fits it, RVP fits it - Moyes does not and never did. None of the players ever dreamed of playing for Utd and included Moyes in that.

It 's bit Moyes fault though and it's not that he can't manage.

Nope. They lost the qualifier to Villa Real.

Gerrard: I don't think Man Utd defenders have ever had a harder 90 minutes than that.

Oh f*ck off..two champions league finals against Messi and Barca.

Back to the game, United were a shambles. Rafael should have been sent off but how many times have we seen that. Carrick was useless. Mata is being played out of position. Rooney had a brutal game and wouldn't we all love the RVP of 2012 back. The current one couldn't score in a brothel.

Vidic shouldn't have lunged in against Sturridge despite not touching him. Seriously, sent off four times in this fixture. That and giving away 3 penalties today. You could make this sh*t up. Really think Liverpool could do it this year. Horrible, horrible thought.

Wait until the 75th minute to make a substitution? Bringing Rio on at the end ??? Just nonsense. One shot on target. Nine league defeats by mid March. More torture to come this week against the Greeks and then what are Yaya and Silva going to do us the following week.

    Time for a drink.

And Bolton and Middlesborough came 6th and 7th..

All you have to do is look at his away record vs the bigger teams

He's struggled to show any signs of being a good manager. He's failed to address major issues in the playing staff. Picked poor starting line ups and decent substitutions have been none existent. Interviews are painful. Alienated a chunk of the playing squad or got rid of useful ones. Indulged consistently poor players and bottled big decisions.

He kept Everton competitive with Spurs and Liverpool on 1/7th of their budget finishing above the latter the last two seasons in a row, FFS we're not bringing this up again are we

He did a really great job at Everton, he's not cut out for United but it's just pure emotions talking if people are trying to take away from his time at Everton

    @OliverKayTimes

#MUFC have won as many points at home as Norwich this season (21), one more than Palace. They've scored as many goals at home (18) as Fulham

    Dear god

De Gea wasn't exactly the busiest 'keeper this weekend. They got through twice & he saved one of those shots, the other 2 goals were pens.
The horrible part was the way we just let them play the way they wanted, ffs we even let West Brom do that at OT earlier in the season.

Totally deluded. He doesn't even believe himself at this stage.

I don't think he ever did

Some posters need to stop bringing up Martinez and Everton as some sort of deflection tactic.

Really doesn't matter anyway. He's been a poor United manager thats all anybody will remember.

Gerrard loves a controversial quote about United. His career is almost over and with any luck he will never have a league winners medal. Liverpool legend and one club man who nearly took Roman Abramovich's hand off when the chance to head to Stamford Bridge came up ten years ago with a big pay packet. That and he is seemingly incapable of smiling which is something a millionaire footballer should be able to do quite a lot of.

Think I'll load up PES & try to replicate how we are playing, the first step could be to try to use the controller upside down.

On a related note....am I alone in thinking it's crazy Vidic was given the armband when he's quite publicly signed a contract with another club? I know he's a leader and all that, but I really don't think we should be looking to a guy who is gone in a few weeks to lead us in such a big game :(

You are dead right. In fact when he announced he was leaving at the end of the season he should have had the captaincy taken off him straight away and dropped to the bench. Whats the point in playing him when he gone in another 7 or 8 games. Play Smalling and Jones, let the get game time together and forget about Vidic

I thought we already decided on the Cancer Society?? ... Ah he is on shaky ground - lose in CL and Man City and I think he could very well be in trouble.

To be fair, Smalling and Evans were injured today. I'd have Vidic, mixed loyalties and all, ahead of Rio. I agree about the captaincy though.

Smalling was injured. It was between Vidic and Rio today.

Fair enough on the injury front today. But for the rest of the season some one of the younger players should be brought in and given experience and forget about Vidic. Hes gone in a few weeks anyway. [tbh hes gone down hill since Rio started to go down hill. Rio was the making of Vidic in many ways

Wouldn't agree with this, Rio came in vs Arsenal and was great, was grand against Palace as well. He's just another casualty of the Moyes era, there's no way he should have been playing 7-8 consecutive games like he was at the start of the season. Vida played well enough today as he has throughout a injury hit season.
