If ye have a clippers ye might as well cut it off them if ye have the time. Personelly I don't bother. Just keep the tails clipped. That causes alot tbh

doubt clippers would get them off, too close to the skin

Just wait till they get the new growth, It'll all fall off. In the meantime, its like body armour....

Leave them. When they shed their winter coat they'll fall off. Pulling or clipping might leave exposed flesh which could get infected. In the meantime it acts like a cushion now that she had to lie on that side all the time. One for the road this summer.

ye know how the dung can stick and dry on a cows leg etc...do ye think its better to pull it off? like would it hurt them or would they like it?

Not sure but think the E.U. regulations about this suggests

    1. Apply dung to hairy part of your own body. Do not use your head as people may object to your appearance.
    2. Leave until well dried and well stuck to your hair and skin.
    3. When fully dried, get someone to grasp said dung and pull of your body
    4. The speed of this dried dung removal from the hairy part of your body can be either quick or slow. It can be fun experimenting!
    5. If helper was not wearing protection he shall wash hand afterwards.

The general rule is that if it hurts you, it will hurt the cow.

Record results for future reference and keep for 7 years.

if you are worried about her-and the fact she is lame- let her out for a few hours each day it will soon fall off

About 15 seconds here, we had no oil most of January, never thought of letting it settle.

Apart from the odd bit of dirt from an empty tank, is there much advantage to letting it settle?

Anyone on here have a wood pellet boiler? How does price compare to oil, and are the pellets easily available? Is it worth changing from oil to pellet, or just go solid fuel?
