Are we not allowed name players being bid on these days?

Those rules can't really be enforced, but I believe the general etiquette is not reveal anything about external players.

I've created a sepereate thread for the new GW ... people dont like mixing GW chat in designated threads

Like I said, it's not really enforced.

It's like bathroom etiquette. Nobody is going to ban you from the bathroom if you stand at the urinal next to them, but they're entitled to get annoyed. Hence, you always leave a 1-urinal gap.

    :pac:

Cheers lad. I'm new to this towards setting up pages and Gw, what's the new thread called?

If people are doing cross world deals then there's nothing stopping others naming external players in the thread

Either agree to stop all of it or nothing at all

Anyone interested in relegated teams have to resign and take a lower team? Could make it more interesting. I'm currently bottom of div 2 and I'd be up for it.

Excluding teams that got promoted the season before though.

I've said before that I hate the idea, and stand by it.
The punishment for relegation is you get relegated. If people get sacked, its more likely they'll stop playing altogether than move to another team.

hardly fair ... what a bout teams with small grounds / low income ( AZ , Pompey, West brom, ....) that might struggle to compete in a division after getting promoted? they could go down 2-3 seasons later. or if a promoted team gets 2 relegations back to back? what if a you take over a team 15 games in and they are bottom, you loose out on survival on Goal Differnence ... loose the job?

    + it's un enforceable

Dont like the idea personally ....

This would be good as it would make the league more interesting.

No it wouldn't... It'd just force people to quit the game. Getting relegated is bad enough. No need to start adding other punishments.

It would make relegation battles more fun and exciting as in just not getting relegated would be more of an achievement and if inter league deals exist I don't think anybody can complain about players being named as many of us seem to be at a disadvantage anyway compared to others.

I think it'd livin things up a bit but if more are against fair enough.

It wouldn't make it fun though.
You'd have a bunch of people stuck with teams they don't want after being forced out of there original team.

Thankfully it can't be enforced so its pointless talking about it.

Lower team managers get a chance at the big time...It's not black and white but it could work. I reckon if somebodies losing enough to get relegated they're probably thinking about quitting anyway.

But smaller team managers still get the chance of a big team.
Off the top of my head the Standard Liège manager (Div 4) took over Real Madrid in season 1.

Also PPPP went from Sao Paulo to Bayern Munich. So low league managers do get a chance at the big time.

This attitude reminds of the kid you use to play football with and if he wasn't allowed win he'd take his ball and go home.

I don't think you see the downside to having it implemented.

Example: Take the FC Porto Manager.
He's had his team since season 1 and has built a strong enough team to get promoted from Div2 up to Div1.

Now *hypothetically* lets say after all that hard work he lands in Div1 and realises that his team just isn't strong enough yet and he gets relegated. Thats 3 season of SM with that Porto gone because of a stupid rule.

Why even bother trying to get promoted to a stronger league when the price of relegation is getting sacked.

Teams promoted could be excluded for the first season.

As burlap said the first season they could be excluded but if you take Barcelona what if they get relegated again then the manager can just keep having a go every season till he gets it right. Loads of things with this league can't be enforced like the 7 or 10 day rule but we stuck to it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,700 ✭✭✭Danger781

    I personally think it's a silly idea.

After spending two / three seasons working with a team, only to get relegated and needing to start all over again? Screw that I'd just quit.

    Why not?
    Its his team isn't?

Forcing people to quit because they've have a bad season will destroy this league.

Enforceability isn't actually an issue since I think the game DOES have the option to turn on sackings. You couldn't alter it so certain teams get sacked and others don't, but that could be handled by Mac just offering back jobs.

For me, it's nothing to do with if it could be enforced or not; it's to do with what makes the game fun or not.

If you want a system whereby if you get relegated, you get sacked, feel free to click on the button that lets you quit your team when you drop. However, for a lot of people, the punishment of relegation is relegation. I'd imagine when that happens, your interest in the game will wane a bit. And if you have to put up with the fact you're going to lose all the work you did put in as well, it's likely just going to cause people to throw their hands up and ask why they should bother.

It's an idea that only works to punish people already struggling at the game, and that for me is the opposite of what we should be trying to do.

The only way people get these large teams is by them quitting anyway, so if they where asked to give up there club and take another and quit instead it would make the same difference.

Exactly, under whats proposed if i got relegated with Porto this season(2nd season in D1)i'd loose my team ....

I for one wouldnt be taking a 'lesser'/ different team, i'd stop playing this GW.

I stated from day one that ive no interest in moving to a bigger (or smaller) club.

I built up MY porto team and put a lot of time into it .... This GW wouldnt interest me in the slightest if that team got taken off me!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,953 ✭✭✭JamboMac

Take a look at Barcelona the strongest team in the game and getting hammered by zenit it's not a case of teams to weak for divisions getting relegated as they are strongest in the gameworld.

You know, I would be for the Barca manager getting sacked, just so I can take the job instead :p:p:p
